Question about Mitsubishi WS-65809 65" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

Mitsubishi WS65909 The picture on my TV has some serious problems. The green and red lights don't match up. In other words, in one area the picture shows up in red and over a few inches the other part of the picture is green. The overall picture is terrible. I am wondering if one of the projection bulbs has blown. Any assistance would be appreciated. Dave

    Dan,

Thank you for the quick response. I can solder and will have to get the tools. If I can't figure it out, I will use your service. I would do it now, but don't have the tools handy or the manual. I know that the circuit board pulls out, but can't remember hos to do it. I'll figure that out soon.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Dan,

I got the back off and the motherboards partly out. I don't see any large black IC's or anything like STKxxx on anything. Thanks for the assistance.

I have what appears to be the same problem, on a 55 inch 2002 model. A good slap on the top or side provides temporary relief. I am curious, is that 'workaround' consistent with the analysis provided above regarding ICs?

Thanks

This is a convergence problem and can be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs to defective ICs. If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on the ICs, If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs. These are large black Ics attached to a heatsink and should be marked STKxxx. Depending upon the exact ones in your set, the cost should be between $15-$25 each (there are 2).

Keep us posted.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62627 DLP. It is six years old. I have had to replace the lamp cartridge twice in the past 18 months. In the past when the lamp failed the light on front of the TV would turn red....

this sounds silly but I had the same problem . due to heat and wear and tear. Make sure the vented air holes are not blocked by dust and the back of the TV is in a well ventilated area where air can circulate. You can use a paint brush and compressed air blowing the debri away from the inside circuitry.

Yoy have convergence issue with tv,try the magic focus/touch focus or manual adjustment in the menu under convergence, if can't be adjusted then your convergence ckt is the problem, you will need a tv tech to repair it.

Turned on TV and had no picture. Now when I reset I get green blinking light then solid green status. After about 30 seconded red lamp light comes on. Is there a solution?

Your lamp is defective, incorrectly installed, or the cooling fan under the lamp is not cooling the lamp for some reason. Service that area.

Blinking Green Light on Mitsubishi DLP 52525

the circut that detects the bulb has been also failing in these sets
and the conversion chip that controls the picture , and the transformers are not putting out the full power they are supposed to.
this set will need to be tested to determine the exact cause or causes

Yes,but first it is necessary to repair the problem = replace
both STK392-570 IC's.............Then use remote to adjust
convergence............."inside the tv" is called servicer menu = adjust after repair is complete. You can expect to replace IC's
every five years or so.......................T.

PS Try to match your problem thread model # to actual model #
ie. VS-5043 does not match WS-65909........T.
