Error Code 542: C and a bad clicking sound when printing

• Code: 542
• Description: Fuser reload error
  This SC is issued if one of following conditions occurs: The fusing temperature rises 8°C or less in 1.5 seconds; and this continues 5 times consecutively. -or- The fusing temperature has not reached 45°C within 9 seconds (after the fusing lamp comes ON while the machine is warming-up). -or- The fusing unit does not attain reload temperature within 35 s. (normal temperature) or 65 s (lower temperature - the thermistor output is less than 18°C) after the fusing temperature control starts.

Error 542 has to do with heat roller warm up. Ensure your thermistor is fine like wise your themostart. Also check if there is dirt on the surface of the thermopile, the check the continuity of the heating roller fuser lamp. Replace defective parts above.

SC 542 Heat roller warm-up error and for that you will need a technician since the machine may need some part replacement .

Here is a way to reset but make sure you follow the instructions correctly.
turn off machine
press online and escape buttons together whilst turning on machine,
when display comes up wait till three options are listed, use arrow button down to select engine, use arrow right to select mode(5.mode) and ok, left arrow to 5.810 SC RESET. OK. PRESS OK AGAIN AND THEN EXECUTE AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN.
Turn off printer and wait ten secs then turn back on.

This is a generic answer, as you didn't state the model machine you had. In general, this is a fusing error code; hot roller is not warming up, or not warming up fast enough...

SC542 - Fusing temperature warm-up error

The fusing temperature does not reach the standby temperature within 20 seconds after the main switch is turned on.

Causes:
• Fusing thermistor defective or out of position
• Fusing lamp disconnected
• Fusing thermostat open

You will need to enter into the service mode in order to clear this service code...

Fusing unit problem.Verify the heater lamps,thermistor and thermofuse continuity.Enter in the SP mode turn OFF the main switch,unplugged the machine wait 10 sec.,plugged and turn ON the copier.

if show ERROR CODE D22-542 means the board in the drum have some problemif show D04-534 means you are using not original ink, but just press restart key is ok.

It is a heating roller warm up error. It should be looked at by a technician to fix the problem. It requires replacing parts to fix it such as the thermistor.
