Yes, you will need the proper drivers in order to configure the wireless. You can find these either at the manufacturer's support site by the laptop model or driverguide.com by the wireless card make and model. Keep in mind that there may be more that one driver that will work, and that your system may recognize and install the wrong driver for the wireless. If it doesn't work properly, then it's the wrong driver. Finding the right wireless driver can be a long and painstaking process, I've spent hours trying to find the right wireless driver before, so, as you try different drivers, save them to the desktop before installing them, when you find the right driver burn it to a disc so you won't have to go through this again. I hope you get lucky and hit the correct driver right off.

Wireless connection

You did not state which laptop model you have. Here is a list of the most common key strokes or switches:

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A Series ---- Button above the keyboard on top right
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D Series ---- Button above the keyboard on top right
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo K Series ---- Not Wireless
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L/EL Series ---- Fn / F1 to turn on/off
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo La Series ---- Fn / F2 to turn on / off
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li Series ---- Easy launch button (one of 3) on top of keyboard

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Hardware switch on a amilo fujitsu laptop

On some of the Amilo Models, the Wi-Fi button is actually a key combination on the keyboard. Have a look for a key with the wireless symbol on it - looks a bit like an antenna, and hold Fn while you press that key. Your Wireless should come back on.

Fujitsu's can be odd, cause the hardware button (mentioned above) doesn't actually disable the driver in Windows, just turns it off so no connections appear.

Will not work wireless - has to be plugged into hub

To switch on the WLAN automatically at system start, please enter the following BIOS setting:
Open the BIOS Setup Utility by pressing [F2] after switching on the AMILO. Goto menu Advanced and change the option "Default Wireless Setting" to "Wireless LAN". Save changes and exit BIOS.
Now the WLAN adapter is enabled by default.

My asus laptop wireless switch does not work

You may have deleted a program that a driver or utility needed in order to function. You can try a hardware search from the device manager, but more that likely you will need to download and reinstall the drivers for the wireless from Fujitsu's support site.

hit the Function key (usually "Fn") then F2 should work. Also on most Fujisu's the wifi button is some where around the top left might want to try that also with or without Fn.

let me know if everything works out, also please take the time to rate me!
