Generally speaking this occurs when the player loses track of where it is. If the lens has been cleaned and this still occurs, an alignment is needed at the least or the optics are starting to fail and will require replacement. The cleaners that are just discs with brushes are not eally effective. Try removing hte unit from the vehicle and opening up the top. Clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the problem, then the alignment route is the next step.

Dan

P.S.
A reset will not effect this behavior.

Keeps on pausing when playing cds tried using cd cleaner cd

It does not necessarily mean that the lens of the player might be dirty when you experience this kind of problems. It may be as a result of a weak lens or damaged disc.
You can try getting a disc with a clean face and try to see if it does the same thing. Also, make sure that you use a soft piece of cloth to clean the face of the disc before playing. Try to do this as gently as possible as it would help to remove some amount of hitches.
Also, the lens of the player might be weak and require replacement. In this case, no matter how you use the cd cleaner, it is not going to help unless you replace the lens.
Lastly, the recording of the disc might be bad and may require you to purchase another one. Sometimes, some discs have bad recordings and cannot play without hitches. This is a fault that comes from the production and not from your disc or player.
The best way to avoid these hitches are by doing the following.
1. Keep your discs in a clean and dust free environment.
2. Make sure you always keep the player closed so as to protect the lens from dust.
3. Ensure that you play disc with clean surface as scratched surface could result in a damaged lens.

My trustworthy 15 year-old player has suddenly decided not to play certain discs and keep stopping at various points on various tracks on other discs. Any suggestions? Jeff

Clean the lens. There are CDs with tiny brushes glued to the bottom made to dust the lens (I think Radio Shack sells them). If that doesn't work, use optical lens cleaner on a lens cleaning tissue. Be very gentle, the lens mechanism is quite delicate and it doesn't take much external force to destroy it.

If there are fingerprints or other contaminants on the data side of your CDs, you can wash them with dish soap and water, then dry them with plain white facial tissue (no perfumes, lotions, etc.).

CD tray opens and shuts fine. With CD loaded and shut the screen still says NO DISK. These are disks which have always played without problem on this CD player. Is there anything I can try before taking...

When the CD player loads properly and still reads as no disk this indicates that the player lens (Optical device which reads the disk information) Is either dirty or bad. The only option you have is to get a disk lens cleaner and run it on the system. Once you run it, it is supposed to work if the lens is not spoilt. Otherwise you will just have to replace the lens by taking it to a repairer.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Cd player stops

you need to have the laser disc cleaned as the disc plays it requires more power ( read ability ) to go further along the disc as with all lazer lens they build up dust smoke lint e.t.c this works like a torch shinning when dust covers it more and more over time it dimes the amount of light coming through.
you can purchase lazer disc cleaners at most electronics shops that sell audio and tvs

below is a picture of the disc it shows the brushes that wipe away all the dust and built up strems

best of luck please take time to rank this advice if you found it helpfull

RCA am-fm steroe radio / dual cassette recorder & compact disc player model rp-9518A. when I try to play a disk it stops and then restarts again at all 5 stations need to know what may be the cause...

I assume that the problem occurs on the cd player. If this problem occurs only at this cd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alcohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case you can, use a Q-tip with isopropyl alcohol to clean up the cd lens manually. In case this doesn’t solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

My Bose DVD player now says "can't read disc" and won't play any dvd's.

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it says "can't read disc".

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

Panasonic SA-PM19 - insert CD and all the machine does is make "clicking" noises then stops and displays NO DISK.

Hi me2you

Your machine is not reading the disc. This can be caused for several reasons. The cd players lens may have a film of dust preventing it from reading. Try a lens cleaner CD. This is about the only thing you can do without getting into the internals of the unit. If you are electronically savvy, I can talk you through some more diagnostics, but generally this will mean replacing parts to fix the unit. If the Lens cleaner does not fix the problem, you may need to take the unit to a Panasonic repair guy for a quote. .

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) If you are still unsure, or have problems, then before you give a rating for this advice, please get back to me and we can try some more things.
