They take a while to heat the oil and supply heat by natural convection, air flow over the radiator, unlike bare element heaters so Yes, they are slow.
The plus is that they pose no fire hazard and are more efficient.

I have a 6 quart slow cooker from magic mill the bottom black part that is the heating element of it broke can i replace it

Yes, it is possible to replace the heating element of your Magic Mill slow cooker if it has broken. However, repairing small appliances can be difficult and may require specialized tools and knowledge. I recommend taking the slow cooker to a qualified appliance repair technician for assessment and repair. They will be able to determine if the heating element can be replaced and perform the repair for you.
Alternatively, you may be able to purchase a replacement heating element for your Magic Mill slow cooker from the manufacturer or a third-party supplier. Keep in mind that attempting to repair a small appliance can be risky and may void the manufacturer's warranty, so it is important to be cautious and carefully follow any instructions provided.

Corningware sc40 programmable slow cooker not heating

If your Corningware SC40 programmable slow cooker is not heating, there are a few things you can check:
  1. Check that the slow cooker is properly plugged in and the outlet is working.
  2. Check the temperature setting. Make sure the temperature is set to a level that should be producing heat.
  3. Check the lid. Make sure the lid is on securely and there are no gaps where heat can escape.
  4. Check the heating element. If the heating element is not working, the slow cooker will not heat up. You may need to replace the heating element or have it serviced by a professional.
If none of these solutions solve the problem, it may be best to contact the manufacturer or a professional appliance repair service for further assistance.

Can you boil in a slow cooker?

Generally, with enough heat and good insulation, water will boil. Boiling is caused by non-uniform heating - some spots are hotter.
My wife's slow cooker boils even on the low setting -slowly, but it boils.
Our rice cooker never used to boil until I burned tomato rice in it (OOPs). Don't make tomato rice in a rice cooker.

Stay or go slow cooker

most slow cookers have a flexible element in the bottom of the cooker. the porcelain "pot" fits into the shell or outside of the cooker. heat rises so naturally the outside of the pot will heat up after the pot and anything in it heats up. (radiated heat) some have insulation around the inside of the shell to slow down the heat convection but will heat up eventually. that's why they all have phenolic handles. if they didn't heat up then would you need handles?
