You will to run the repair with your recovery disc or operating system disc. In order to do this, you will have to enter the boot menu or set the machine to boot from CD before the hard drive. If you run a repair it will keep all the drivers, installed programs, and your files. If you have to do a complete reload, then you will have to download the drivers from the manufacturers site and you will lose any installed programs and files. If the hard drive is bad you are going to lose these anyway.

My acer aspire laptop has a black screen with flashing cursor in top left hand corner. How can I fix this?

When you turn off the power and start the reboot process by turning it on do you ever see anything appear on the screen? If so that means there is no problem with the screen and the problem is probably a corrupt or missing boot file or system file. You will need the operating system disc to repair this. If it's Windows XP you will need to boot from the system disk then get to the recovery console (repair option on the windows directory) and run the command: chkdsk /r This will run well over an hour or more and you will notice the percentage of completion going up and down, but let it run to completion. Then reboot and hopefully you're successful. If not, boot from the system disk again, but this time select the option to Install Windows, once you hit F8 to agree to the license windows will check for any already installed windows operating system. When it finds yours highlight it and select R to repair the existing windows operating system. This option will preserve all your documents, music, pictures, videos and any programs you have.

If windows Vista load the system disk and let it try to fix the problem by running system repair. If it can't repair it then you can get to the recovery console and type "chkdsk /r" and let it run. When finished, try rebooting. If not successful then unless you are technically inclined you will need to seek out a repairman because a good repairman will save your documents, music and pictures then reload your vista operating system.

I am trying to reboot the computer and it just goes to a black screen with the arrow

Hi there!

Try to access the Advance booting option by press F8 continuesly when start up boot and run the safe mode. Your computer will run on mini drivers loaded and low VGA graphic and uninstall software or hardware that corrupted your operating system or run virus scan if virus attacked your computer.

Try also to run system restore to bring back your old configuration but back up your files before doing this. Go to start menu, choose accessories, choose system tools, choose system restore and choose the date with with good configuration settings.

Effective way to repair your black screenis to put Windows installer CD or system back up disc into the CDROM drive and run the repair mode. This will fix the errors in your computer.

I hope it helps you.

The laptop shows windows system 32 configuration file corrupt error how to run laptop?

Hi

Windows system 32 file is part of the operating system and when it is corrupted, you cannot boot up your computer. I suggest if you had a systems back files, use it to recover the missing file. Just load the back up disk CD/DVD into the CDROM, boot up your computer and run it to CDROM and option will display and choose the repair.

If don't have the systems back up disk. Only solution is to reinstall or repair your operating system.

For reinstalling and repairing, insert the OS installer CD in your CDROM and boot up your computer and run the repair or reinstallation process. Follow the procedure.

I removed the battery on my acer last night and when I turned it back on it went to system repair. It has been repairing for 12 hours now. What is wrong with it.

For me... This has nothing to do with your battery.... Don't worry about the battery... Sometimes, the computer runs the system repair as there is something wrong with your driver and operating system.... The system repair normally fix whatever it can on your computer.... The running time maybe from a few minutes, few hours and also for a long time... so, just bear with it.... it will be back to normal soon....

Dell laptop will not boot up?

Turn system on by pressing FN and the power button, this should start the system diagnostics. If hard drive diags pass, then new would be boot to the WIndows CD and Run Repair (Vista) or boot to recovery console (XP) once in recovery console, run the command CHKDSK /R
If running Vista repair, you may need to run the repair tool up to 5 times (Each pass makes a partial repair, it make take more than one to complete all issues)

If Diags fail, replace the hard drive.

The please wait then welcome and stays at welcome.

1. Try to boot your computer in Safe mode and run a full system virus scan with your anti-virus software, this may fix the problem. The system will boot in safe mode only if its not a major damage to the file. If the system is not booting in safe mode, then perform system restore. Click start>all programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore. Restore computer to a date where it was working fine.
2. In case the system refuses to boot up at all, then it is recommended to run a repair setup of windows Xp. To run repair setup, boot the computer with Windows Xp bootable CD and on installation screen, press R for repair setup. Window does not start

This file is found on the operating system disk, if you do not have the factory or microsoft system disk, you will need to purchase one and reinstall from it. once you get a disk, after booting off it run the repair option and run chkdisk /r this will repair all system files. if the new disk will not allow you to do a repair you will have to run the install feature.
