Greetings,
The first thing to be sure of is you do have voltage at the motor...once your sure of this. I would advise you to check for a broken wire at every connection block..I have also seen this happen before. The defrost board controls the evaporator motor as well as, the compressor and lights etc..Its located in the fresh food side. The top left has a plastic cover that runs to back of refrig..There are two screws that secure this to the cabinet and two small dimples that go into a retainer at the front of it..Remove screws and slide the housing towards the right side..it will pop out. then you can look at the board and see if showing any burn spots...Its possible to be bad, but look ok////Bruce Denton

Hi. I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 106.79172990. There is a fan in the freezer which has just started to make a very loud sound when the fan is spinning. It sounds like a bearing problem. When I stick a...

. Yes to both questions . You're right about the bad bearing. Also you are right about the evaporator fan. Actually it is called a circulation fan . You'll have to remove the food and racks in the freezer compartment to access the evaporator cover area which is where the fan is located . Look carefully around the opening where the fan blade is for two screws . They will be Phillips or 5/16 hex screws . If you locate them as I've mentioned , before removing them , carefully pull the fan blade from the center close to the shaft straight out of and off of the motor shaft . Do this if possible before removing the screws . Then remove the screws which hold the motor assembly in place . You may have to twisted little bit and angle allowing each bracket mounting foot to clear the opening . There should be a connector you can uncouple the power leads with . If not , when you purchase the new motor , it should come with wire nuts to rewire the new motor into the existing power leads.

The fan has a limit control wired in series that shuts the fan down until the coil temperature reaches 25*F. this prevents the fan from blowing warm around after defrost.
There is also a switch which is placed for the door to close. Either one may be defective.
Worst case is the freezer is not pulling down temperature wise.

Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator, evaporator fan not running

As insignificant as it may seem, that evap fan motor is as important as petrol in a car. That fan controls the fridge cooling on many fridges and circulation in tha freezer compartment. Replace it with the correct one and you should see a functional fridge/ freezer again. Note, i wouldnt run unit without it for long, as condensig temperatures run high and compressors dont last long.

Howling noise from freezer fan, GE side-by-side

Replace the fan, Remove the evaporator cover in the back of freezer, and probably another cover for the fan. Unplug your refer first. Usually their are two screws holding the fan bracket to the wall or mount. disconnect the wires, and replace. Their is a newer model evap fan motor that does not have wiring terminals to disconnect, it is hard wired together and you have to practically remove everything in the freezer compartment to get at it. You have to cut wiring and splice the new fan motor in. Fairly tough job. Usually an evaporator fan motor bearing fails from the refer being moved or in storage for a few days at least with the doors closed and the unit unplugged. This allows all that moisture that was in the freezer to get into the metal parts of the fan motor and cause this problem. To prevent this always block the doors open if your refer is going to be off for a few days. This will allow the unit to dry out without damage. Sometimes it was just a bad motor from the factory. Refrigerator has a clicking sound and does not run

Replace the motherboard (part # WR55X10942) but be careful to check that the evaporator fan (inside the freezer) turns on when you power up the refrig again. A bad evaporator fan motor can take out the motherboard. If compressor starts with new board but not evap fan, unplug immeadiatelly and replace the evap fan motor to save new board.

Hello, I have a side-by-side Samsung Refrig from Costco. I freezer started to ice up today. I removed the ice maker compartment and took some of hte freezer items out to provide more room for the air to...

the evaporator fan motor will not run when you have the door open - you have to press the door switch in to make it run.

But if you are doing this and the fan is still not running then this explains the evaporator ice up problem.

You will have to take it apart (make sure that the power is off) and just unplug the evap fan (usually just plugged in)

Usually these fans are a standard type of fan and you will be able to get one from a electical wholesaler or just call samsung and get one from them - make sure you have the model number with you when you order it though.
