Question about GE Spectra JBP78 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Glass top I absolutely cannot clean the white top. I work on it every morning and have to resort to Brillo pads. I've cleaned and recleaned the bottoms of my pans....all to no avail. Right now, I've got Clorox on the stovetop but I think due to my trying to clean that I've damaged it. I don't know.....What should I do? Buy a new stove?

You have more than likey damaged the stove top with brillo, and once they are damaged there is really no simple cure other than to replace. in the future use a non abrasive cleaner, and NEVER use oven cleaner on a glass top, it will wreck it as well

How do I clean my amana cooktop. I can't seem to get it clean no matter what products I try from cooktop cleaner to windex can call me M. G. and just to ease your mind, I am an appliance Technician & have been pretty much all of my adult life. Have you tried a product called Cerama Bryte? It looks like calamine lotion only white in color. You have to follow the directions on the back of the bottle & you may have to do it more than once, but it is the best & i don't really recommend anything else. And you are gonna have to find yourself a nonabrasive scuff pad.... and that's gonna help cut that stuff off the glass. best part is that Cerama Bryte makes several products devoted to cook-top cleaning including special Cleaning Pads for glass tops. Windex is the worst thing to use. And as a last resort, I have 1 more method, but you should do just fine with this one. I've seen it remove some serious stuff!! You can re-post if this doesn't correct your issue and I'll explain my "Last Resort Method"to you. And once you get that thing clean (or as clean as it will come), as a suggestion you probably need to clean the cook-top only with a product designed to clean cook-tops and the same day the mess is made so those stains won't build on top of one another. Well, good luck and hope I've been of some help :-)

Good morning we are staying in a house of friends who are on holiday. I would like to clean the Bosch Ceran top but I am not sure which cleaning stuff I can use. Is the use of CIF creamer allowed with a...

Harry -
I would first see if your friend has a special ceramic cleaner in his or her cleaning supplies cupboard. If you can't find a ceramic cleaner, the best thing you can do is use hot water to clean the surface. All-purpose cleaners (like Cif) can damage the ceramic glass so it's best to avoid using them.
Also, look in your friend's cleaning supplies cupboard for a metal razor scraper. Use the razor scraper to scrape off any burnt-on food or spills. Do this by holding the scraper at approximately a 30 degrees angle to the cooktop while wearing an oven mitt to protect your hands. If no scraper is available, don't resort to a knife or abrasive sponge as these could damage the ceramic glass.
When the cooking surface is cool, apply a few dabs of the ceramic cleaner (if you found it) in each burner area and work the cleaning cream over the cooktop surface with a damp paper towel. Then wipe down with water and dry with a clean paper towel.
If no ceramic glass cleaner is available, it is sufficient to wipe down with hot water and a soft sponge. Never use abrasive sponges or scouring pads on ceramic glass cooktops. Also watch out for corrosive cleaners such as over sprays, cleaners containing chlorine or ammonia and stain removers - these will just further damage the surface.
For a list of approved CERAN cleaners see here:

How do you get the microwave clean inside after it turns yellow from a burned itme

1. If the oven cavity is white try using a mild bleach solution to clean. Failing this use Cif as this has an abrasive

2. If the cavity is stainless steel repeat as above but do NOT use wire wool e.g Brillo pad

Good morning; We have a new Jenn-Air black glass

Any proprietary glass top cleaner should be suitable. Avoid using a wire based scouring pad but the Scotch type 'plastic/foam' cleaning pads are ok.
