Cannot get the Home Theatre speakers to play when I am watching regular TV. Turned the speakers OFF on my Sony Bravia, made connections per the owners manual, still no luck

The audio out of your TV will need to be plugged into one of the audio inputs on the receiver. Can't really find much information on the receiver as it's a Walmart house brand and don't know the OEM equivalent but I am suspecting that it's one of those home theatres with the built in DVD player right? Not a audio receiver per say. So look on the back of the receiver to see if it's got an Auxillary or TV input then look at the back of your TV for an audio output and connect those two together with a red and white RCA audio patch cable.

Home theater with cabel

Assuming you've got an extra input on your home theater's receiver, it's pretty simple:
On the back of your cable box (assuming you have a cable box), look for "Audio Out", a pair of red and white connections.
Run a pair of audio cables from there, to an available input on your receiver.  That's all you need to do.
You should turn the actual television volume down, when watching TV through your home theater, as you may get a slight echo from the two audio sources.

Can a durabrand dvd home theater system, model #sts96 be used on tv for surround system

I have a sts92 system and run the tv sound through it for surround sound. My Tv has an AV out option, so I ran component cable from the AV out on the TV to the AV in on the sts92. When watching TV, turn on the theater system and set the function to AV in.

How do I connect Durabrand home theater system to my TV with built-in DVD player? I also tried to hook it up to the game cube for my son...but could not get it to work. The only way it is working is by...

One way is to run a set of red white rca stereo audio cables from the back of your tv's red, white audio out plugs to the audio in plugs on durabrand hometheater system which are colored red and white. Most tv's will output audio signal automatically but some tv's like sony you need to go into menu of tv and under sound settings switch audio ouput to audio system if the sound doesn't come out automatically. Make sure you but durabrand hometheate system on correct input which should be labeled on back of durabrand system where the red and white audio in plugs are. Good Luck!
