There appear to be problems with alot of different software and windows 7 as faras compatability. In my expierience, you never want to allow any upgardes to ATI/AMD through windows., I learned that the hard way. They ar not compatable and usually immediately screw up resoulution and send you searhing for a way to fix the picture(blue screen). The third link is AMD's link for updates which should work for you. If this doesn't help let me know in "add comments" at end of solution.

Yes and No. Let me explain. You have taken an older board that worked with XP and tried to make it work in Win7 (which is not supported by the board). Add in your graphics card switch, and you have a real mess.

You can upgrade your motherboard (for one that is compatible with Win7 - (ie. a brand new model with Win7 certification) and use a graphics card that is also Win7 compatible, or

Go back to a configuration that worked

Computer Does not work correctly with Radeon 9250 Graphics Card

Hmm? Everything except replacing the motherboard, sometimes it does not get any better, but...go into your BIOS and turn off the Gateway splash screen. It will be an option in maybe the first or second menu choice. Make sure your on board video device is disabled and save your options when exiting. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

VIA CPU to AGP Problem with 3Gb and Vista

Hi,
Chances are good that your third 1gig memory module is faulty. Windows blue screen of death at startup is a typical symptom of faulty RAM memory.
Try replacing the third 1gig DIMM with another of the same type.
Let me know if this works or not.

Can't install windows XP on my KN8 ultra

I believe you are using a sata drive not ide, correct? The problem is that vista has built in drivers to support your boards sata/raid controller, winxp does not. to work around this you need to go here -
http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/download/download_driver_detail.php?pFILE_TYPE=Driver&pMAIN_TYPE=Motherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=KN8+Ultra&pSOCKET_TYPE=Socket%20939
Abit website. for your board - socket 939. KN8 ultra file called NVRaid Installation disk. click on picture, it will download the zip file. extract the files to an empty folder (create one). Then run RFDgen.exe program. It will create the floppy you will need. I hope you have a floppy drive, if not try a usb one. If it has a problem creating the floppy, copy the files in the folder floppydisk to your floppy. there is a readme.txt file in that folder as well that should help explain which option you should select when you install windows. So... once you have the floppy start your computer up with xp disk in and as the screen turns blue, you will see at the bottom of the screen a message - press F6 to select additional drivers. Do just that, a couple of times to be sure. then it changes to press F2, just sit back and wait. eventually it will come to a screen asking if you want to specify additional drivers. press S and the next screen will show you the drivers it found on the floppy. select the one for your configuration (can be changed in the bios). and then windows will load fine. this is necessary for all new systems with sata/raid installing xp. take care.
