Try restarting in safemode by hitting the F8 button during boot up. if you are able to get to the desktop in safemode try uninstalling the video driver from device manager by right click my computer (or computer for vista/7) then choosing manage, it should open up device manager, then click on device manager. on the left side of the screen expand the display adapters. right click on the video driver then choose uninstall. afterwards restart the computer normally. if you get the desktop then reinstall the video driver.
1. Turn the Laptop off
2. Remove the battery
3. Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop
4. Disconnect any peripheral devices from the laptop such as printer usb cables, PCMCIA cards etc.
5. Push and hold the power button for 60 seconds then let go
6. Connect the AC adapter to your laptop
7. Push power button to turn on the laptop
8. If this resolves the issue shutdown the laptop connect the battery and turn laptop back on
If issue is not resolved restart the computer and begin tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you see a screen that gives you options to enter different modes. Highlight "Safemode" and press enter. If the computer boots completely into safemode you likely have a driver that has corrupted or a hardware device that has failed. Likely driver failures are video card drivers. Got to Device Manager and uninstall the video card driver and restart the system. You can do this with other drivers as well.
Shutdown the computer and Restart it, as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select, "Last Good Known Configuration" and hit "Enter" key. It should take care of the issue. If not, then boot the computer to "Safemode", to do so, restart the computer and as soon as it restarts keep on tapping F8 key, now select "Safemode" from the Advance boot menu. If it is booting to Safemode, then perfomr a system restore to previous date. If nothing happens, then you have to perfomr a full system restore.
| | Installing this wireless adapter couldn't have fried the motherboard, right? ||I would not have thought so .. the software may have caused an issue --- as the PC boots tap F8 you should get a menu - choose "last known good configuration" ---- if that does not work, reboot and again tap F8 as it boots and this time choose safemode - then see if you can restore start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore> choose a date to before the data you installed the wireless adapter software
option one: try to reboot your pc on safemode in order to use press f8 before the microsoft screen appears, then boot it to safemode, see if will display in safemode, now if the system display go to display properties and adjust your resolution to 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 and restart, the lcd screen may not support the resolution you have just set before, option two: if you have done option one and the same result have your notebook check for problems regarding the lcd screen
try hooking up an external display and restore the settings , if that don't work you will need the operating disk to reinstall system files and you won't lose any data and the display settings will be restored
