Question about Philips 9P5534C 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Sounds like its bad

Have a hillips 55'' rear projection screen, and once i turn it on: there is one click(Which is usual, meaning power just surges through the tv at first, right?). Then once that starts to turn on, a second click sounds, and the television just turns itself on. I can't even get the code on the display to know what is exactly wrong with it.

Can you help?

Follow the steps below after verifying that the issue is occuring on other channels and other video sources.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

its the surge protector - plug it into the wall to see if that takes care of it and then put a UPS or uninterupted power supply on it so it has protection.
