Taking apart the unit is quite easy and replacing it should not be a problem if you are technically incline. Pry of the face by lifting just under the Garmin name, remove the 4 screws that secure the face, gently pull apart keeping note of the antenna and it's orientation which is located on the back top of the case. Gently pull the battery/speaker plug to allow yourself more room to work. Remove the three screws that secure the main board to the face (silver). Gently remove ribbon cable connected at the top to free the face screen. You will need to replace the whole screen as this is one unit.
