The noise was coming from inside the refridgerator compartment, upper right hand corner. The only part I can see is up there in the schematic is the temperature control. The noise would occur a couple times a day for anywhere from ~ten seconds to several minutes.
Note that everything was working fine in both the fridge and freezer when the unit was making noise. Now the unit has stopped making the buzzing sound. The freezer still works fine, but the fridge is now longer staying cold. So it does n ot seem to be the compressor or compressor relay.
My guess is the temperature control unit in the refridgerator has died, but I am surprised it would make any noise, especially a buzzing sound that can be heard throughout the house. Does my prognoses sound correct?
Thank you,
David

In unblocking the vent, I took a cover off in the freezer. As I started clearing away frost, I noticed a lot behind the back panels in the freezer. So I took them off. The coils were completely encased in frost.
After thawing them I realized this must mean the defroster coil is not owrking. Behold, the defroster control is in the upper right hand corner of the regfridgerator, right where the noise and vibration was eminating from.

however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed
