Question about Toshiba Satellite A60 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba Satellite Pro m40 Will not bootup

When I try to switch it on I hear 4 audible beeps & nothing.
Is this telling me that 4 beeps is a fault code? If so what does it mean?

Cheers

Steve

Yes. Could be a clue to a hardware issue. There are different manufacturers of BIOS... some differences in what the codes mean.

Is it 4 short beeps or a combination of short and long?

A reference for the codes:

Try removing and re-seating your memory card.

Switch on wireless key on Toshiba Satellite M30,

Try downloading and reinstalling the drivers for the wireless network adapter. If you have the original disk it should have the driver if not you can download it from the Toshiba site.

Toshiba satellite m40 booting problem.

Hi! It appears that possibly your hrad drive isn't set properly in the caddy? with the laptop powered down and disconnected locate the hard drive cover pop out the two locating screws and carefully move the caddy/hard drive BEWARE as the drive has fragile pins at the opposite end where you opened, hopefully little sliding pressure should remove. Check the retaining screws around the caddy (You'll need a small torx/philips screw driver for this) if all tight replace gently.
If you are uncertain I would recommend a technician check it for you.
Good Luck!

4 Beeps means there is a fault with the CPU.

It could be that the fan is faulty and needs replacing, or it coul be that the CPU is dead.

Unless you are technically mined enough to take the machine apart yourself, then your only course of action is to take it to a dealer for repair.

Toshiba Satellite M40 Internal Wireless Card replacement

On the bottom of the laptop there will most likely be 2 panels to remove. One will be the hard drive, the other will be your RAM modules and most likely your wireless card. It'll probably be in the middle. Open this up, your wireless card will have two wires plugged into it that you'll have to unplug. Then on each side there is a tab that you have to click outward, then the card will flip up. Then you can just pull it outward. Do the reverse for installing the new card.
