SOURCE: P5PE-VM asus board audio driver

Hello there.

Please click here to download the drivers for your audio chipset. You may note that Vista is not listed but the driver version for Windows XP works in Vista, there was a problem with the installer cd on Vista but apparently manually running the installer for the audio card, from the cd works fine. Click here to see what other users of the same motherboard said.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: asus p5pe-vm series motherboard driver wont work with windows 7

Windows 7 is still in the beta/testing stage from what I remember.

If you go to this page courtesy of ASUS:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

In the search box type in your motherboard p5pe-vm and click on P5PE-VM related files for download

It will come up with a seperate window that will ask you the OS that your installing and windows 7 is not an option which tells me that drivers aren't available for your motherboard just yet, it may down the line once windows 7 becomes publicly available.

Your machine should use the Realtek HD codecs or the AC97 codecs. Should the AC97 HD codecs not work try the standard codecs. Windows update can sometimes create the problem you're experiencing - a reinstall should do the trick.

No sound

Hello hassahabi, what I think happened to your sound is this. When the apple iTunes software installed you allowed iTunes to take over all your sound files within the system. To gain back your system sounds try this: Open windows Explorer & left click once on C:\
Once high-lighted, left click on Tools & left click the tab " File Types ". Scroll down the list to, WAV.
Left click once on WAV - wav sound. The sound file should open with Windows Media Player & not to ipod or iTunes. Click the, "Change" button. The "Open With", window will open. Find, Windows Media Player in the list. Left click once on it & than click OK. Most of windows sounds are located in the C:\Windows\Media folder. I suggest you also set MID to open with Windows Media Player.
Once finished close all opened windows & restart your system.
When windows finishes loading open the sound icon by first double left clicking the sound icon. Check that the wave slide bar is all the way up! Close that window. Now right click once on the sound icon & left click "Adjust Audio Properties". Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window will open.
See if the play button is no longer grayed out.
If it is grayed out you'll have no choice but to uninstall the apple software to free your system sounds.
Next round of ipod iTunes installation watch your screen's & choose not to allow iTunes to control, *.wav sound files.

Good luck hassahabi!

DVD Sound Missing

Hello folks,
If you install another program like Nero xxx. Nero adds or can take away window media player's format from playing certain codec’s. Any program installed like burner software can do the same. This is a software issue. To help fix it download & install codec's from this site. This should help to regain sound for DVD formats.
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
Free download.
Other items. Some PC's can loose DVD sound in windows media player 11. Check that you're version of windows is up to date. Last ditch effort. Insert the DVD & open windows explorer. Right click on the DVD drive & see what the format is. (Ex: ***.vob, ***.mp4, ***.divx). Than search either Microsoft or Google for the matching codec's. Download & install it from the web.
Suggestion. Use only one playback software program. Bouncing between programs is not suggested. Find which looks & sound best for you & uninstall the others if not needed.
If by chance non of the above has helped or fixed this issue, please list the program you are using to play DVD's & the format of the DVD.

Good luck all!

Mike
