That could be a battery problem, a network problem, or a phone factory defect. Contact your network provider toll free for troubleshooting.

Phone is not disconnecting

Buttons sometimes get stuck, so your disconnect button may be failing which is most common issue. Try pushing with a slight twisting action with pressure and see if it disconnects. Then it is surely the contacts in that button.

I used my ATT 830 phone as a wall phone and now want to use it as a desk phone. Where can I get the base for desk use?

On the bottom of the phone remove the plastic cover from the bottom half of the phone and re-install it on the top half. The phone will now be at the proper angle for desk use.

Phone is a piece of ****!!!does not ring half of the time, have no dial tone half the time.phone is fully charged so what is the problem

Your first sentence says it all. This phone is truly sh.t.
Looks like you got a dud as a result of poor quality control. Take it back to the store for refund or exchange. Get a Uniden cordless phone from Wal-Mart. They work much better and you will only be cursing 1/4 as much.

How do you remove the battery cover for the compartment under the phone? I've tried sliding, lifting, etc., but it doesn't budge.

On the back of the phone bottom half, push down where it meets the top half and at the same time push (slide) it down away from the top half. It's very tough but it will work.

Screen is not readable- thinking it's the battery

Have you tried to adjust the contrast on your display? If that doesn't help chances are its your battery.
how to change battery:
Remove the battery compartment door, the bottom half of the back, should slide down.
Disconnect the cord attached to the battery pack and remove the battery pack from the handset.
Insert the new battery pack and connect the cord to the jack inside the battery compartment.
Put the battery compartment door back on.

Some unanswered calls go on, the machine as a constant beeping sound. These are from #s like: out of area and some random calls. These go on for an unlimited time and it's extremely annoying. How to...

Questions like these are tough to answer because you only asked half a question. I'll take a stab at it :-)

I'm guessing that you're using a cheap (ie AT&T) answering machine and the call is abandoned but the extension plays a busy tone. The fix is to buy a better answering machine, use Panasonic VM, or get a product from Viking Electronics called a CPC-1.

All 3 of these solutions are going to listen for that beep-beep-beep and disconnect.

Hope this helps.

CORDLESS PHONES FOR THE UXCC500 FAX ANSWERING MACHINE

You can connect up to 4 cordless sets (Operating manuals, page 21, states 3 but they really mean 3 in addition to the one packed with the base, for a total of 4). I've head four connected for over 5 years now and they work fine. In your case, try disconnecting the battery of the cordless for at least 30 seconds, then reconnect. You may also want to disconnect the power cable from the base unit for a half minute or so. I found this method to be equivalent to a cold boot, and quite effective in getting all phones to work again after a storm or power outage.

Cordless disconnects wireless network

Unfortunately, you won't be able to get them to play nice together. Your phone is a 2.4GHz phone, which is the same frequency that WiFi runs on. This will be the case with any 2.4GHz phone you use, regardless of brand. Your only real options are to replace the phone with either an older technology 900MHz phone, or a newer technology 5.8GHz phone. Either solution will work.
