Can you access the router? If not, then open firefox or internet explorer, type 192.168.1.1 into the url bar. The LINKSYS Router log in page appears. no user name and password is admin. This is default an the routers. Then go to wireless setup/security and access the security settings page. If using WEP, highlight the old password and retype the new pass word. Word of advise. This router is a pain to work with. Make sure you are not changing anything else when in the router.

I need to add Aspire R11 to my wireless system. I don't know how to find the security key.

Every device on your system that connects wirelessly uses the same security key to get to the router. The security key is set in the router by the router administrator. Either you know the key or you don't. If you don't, then get the router administrator to tell it to you or if that person is you, then go into the router and either get the key (if it is viewable), find the key in another device that is attached (if it is viewable - not all are), or change it to another value so you can connect your device. Remember though, that changing the key will mean ALL OTHER devices that are connected wirelessly will need to have their security codes changed as well or else they will not be able to connect to the network.

How do I change the ssid and reset security

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you need the to change the SSID and Network Key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security you will see the SSID you can personalize it and under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Security Key. The Network Key or Security Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

You can also reset the router by pressing the Reset button at the back of it for 15-30 seconds using a Pen and a Paper Clip.

How do i get my security code for my netgear WGR614v9

Hello,

The default security key will be printed at the base of the router. If you have not changed the default security keys then you can use it. If you have changed it then you will have to log in to router interface and retrive your security keys.

Where is my network security key

My friend,

You have to lo-gin into the router setup page .

1.Put this address (192.168.1.1) in the address bar and then you will see the router setup page.
2.Then this will ask you for the username and password.
3.Username is nothing so leave this blank and password is admin.
4.Then you will see the router setup page .
5.Click on the wireless Tab under the basic wireless settings you will see wireless security .
6.Click on the wireless security and you will see there your router wireless security key.
7.Always select Security Mode as WPA2 PERSONAL.
8.If you want to change the security key you can.
9.After changing the settings Click on the sav settings.

What is the security key of netgear wireless connection?

Hi,

Security key in side the router. To get the key you need to access the routers web interface. Please follow the steps below on a wired pc. A pc which is directly connected with the netgear router using an Ethernet cable.

1. Open internet explorer and in the address box type http://192.168.0.1 and press enter. It should ask you a user name and password. User name is admin and password is the word password. click on login or ok.

If you don’t get user name and password window with http://192.168.0.1 and try http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net

2. Click on wireless settings on the left hand side.
3. Under the security section if the security is wep then note down the key one and this is the security key you need.

If the security is something else then you wont be able to see the security key it will ******. In this i'll suggest you to change the security key to wep, encryption should be 64 bit and authentication type should be open. In the security key one box you need to type in the security key, The lenght of the key should be 10, you can only use a-f and 0-9. For example 123abc567f. and save the settings.

Try connecting on the wireless pc.

Note: if you change the security key then you need to connect all the wireless devices with the new key.

Solution Overview
This article explains how you can avoid having to run the Wireless Configuration Utility or Wireless Setup Assistant (Macintosh) after making changes to the router's security settings. The need to change these settings can arise if users forget their network key/passphrase or router web server password or if you have security concerns.
Printer response to security settings changes
The printer will respond with a flashing orange (pattlnk_6172008_1844-orgblksml.gif) Wi-Fi indicator light after the following actions are performed on the network or router/access point (AP):

  • -A change to the Service Set Identifier (SSID) or network name.

  • -A change to the security type (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2 personal).

  • -A change to the security network key/passphrase.

  • -A hard reset of the router followed by entry of security values that are different from the original values.

  • -The printer is moved to a network (AP) that has different security values but already has installed drivers and created ports. NOTE: Port reconfiguration may be required in this case. Click here for instructions.

In order to rejoin (associate and authenticate) the wireless network (WLAN), the wireless client (printer) has to be reconfigured with the router's new SSID, security type, and network key. This requires connecting the USB configuration cable to the host computer and running the Wireless Configuration Utility or Wireless Setup Assistant to apply the new security settings on the printer's wireless network adapter.
Solution: Change the printer settings first
Change the security settings on the printer while it is still communicating on the network before making the changes on the router. Understand that this will cause a temporary change in the Wi-Fi indicator light from pattlnk_6172008_1952-tn_grnsolproof.jpg to pattlnk_6172008_1844-orgblksml.gif. After you have made equivalent changes on the router, the printer's Wi-Fi indicator light will return to pattlnk_6172008_1952-tn_grnsolproof.jpg.
Procedure: How to change security settings via the embedded web server
If you change your AP security settings frequently, this procedure is for you.

  1. Open your web browser application and enter the printer IP address into the web address field, i.e. http://ip_address.

  2. Click on Configuration.

  3. Click on Wireless.

  4. Enter the SSID, security type/encryption, and network key that will be used to configure the router.

  5. Click Submit.

Need to change password from previously changed password

To secure the wireless network or to change any settings on the router you will need to access the router set up interface.
Open the set up interface of the router . Make sure that your computer will be connected to the router with the Ethernet cable.

Once you open the set up page of the router , you will find the place to change the wireless settings of the router. In case of Linksys wireless router , you will see the Wireless Tab at the top.

SSID : It is the name of the wireless network. This name will be shown on your wireless computer or the wireless device so that you can identify your own wireless network. All the routers come with their factory default settings. For example , the Linksys router will come with the Linksys network name.
It will be better to change the wireless network name.


Wireless Security

Change the security mode to WEP. This security type is supported by all the operating system. When change the security mode to WEP, you will find the Network key box to type the network key. Do not type anything in the Passphrase box. Type your network key in the Key 1 Box. If you set the encryption to 65 bits, your network key will be 10 digit hexadecimal number. that means you can use the combination of 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and letters a,b,c,d,e,f only. remember it should be exactly 10.
If you set the Encryption to 128 bit, your network key will be the combination of 26 digits. You will need to remember the network key.

WPA

This is one of the most secured type of encryption.
Open the set up interface of the router. Change the wireless security mode to WPA personal. You will find the passphrase box. in this box you can type any password for your wireless network. The password should be the combination of number and letters and it should be 8 or more than 8 characters.
This security type is supported by WINDOWS XP SP2 and above Operating system.

WPA2
This is one of the highly secured type of encryption.
Open the set up interface of the router. Change the wireless security mode to WPA personal. You will find the passphrase box.In this box you can type any password for your wireless network. The password should be the combination of number and letters and it should be 8 or more than 8 characters. Keep the Algorithm to TKIP.
This security type is supported by WINDOWS VISTA and above.

Once you change the wireless settings on the router , try to connect to the new wireless network

Code 800700002how to fix this code

The issue or problem is caused by system drive letter has change or a software has changed the default security provider without knowledge of users.

To resolve the issue, change the system drive letter to revert it back to original value, or match the new drive letter to the security provider. If the default security provider has been changed, reset the default security provider in Windows XP by deleting the relevant keys in the registry.

Reset the Default Security Provider in Windows XP
Start the computer. Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in Safe mode.
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Delete the following registry keys in the Windows registry:HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
Quit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

Match the Default Security Provider to New Drive Letter
Run Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
Navigate to the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider
You will see a few Provider key beneath the branch. In each Provider key, edit the Image Path value to match the new drive letter.
Exit Registry Editor.
Restart computer.

Reset the Drive Letter of the System Drive

Use Registry Editor to change the drive letter of the system drive back to its original value. Edit the following registry key to change the value of the system drive:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices

where \DosDevices\C: and other values presents the drive letters.

go to the wireless access point admin settings (not on your wireless adapter on your laptop). then check wireless security settings. if you see something there such as security key, that is the security key that you need to set up on your laptop. if security key is not visible, try to see if there is an option there which says unmask to show the security key, then copy it to your laptop. if all else fails, change the security key in the wireless access point and change all the wireless adapters that connect to it accordingly to the new security key you set it up.
