Nokia 6131 - Memory card/camera

Hi. I got a 1 gig memory card for my nokia 6131, and after I had about 130 pictures stored on it, the camera stopped being able to take a picture. Once I had dumped about two thirds of the snaps on the card, the cam started working fine again. But, surely the card should hold a lot more - the total of pics was only 40MB or so, and the card has another 900 + MB's to go - being a 1 gig card - right?. Could it be cos it needs 'formatting' to tell the card how much space to 'allocate' to different media etc ?. I am v new to this stuff - it's just that I saw an option on one of the menu's saying 'format card' or something. Apart from the cam not working , it would not rename any pictures or move them to another file etc, which it now will do ok , having deleted a bunch of pics. Thanks, Best regards - Ian.

I have a Toshiba 8 GIG memory card. I used it

When you removed the card from the computer, did you remember to use the "safely remove hardware" procedure? Also, you should never wait until your card is full before downloading...you run the risk of the card becoming corrupted. Your options now...1. Get a separate card reader and see if you can download your pics with it.2. If not, take the card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak Picture kiosk machine. Insert your card and you should be able to see all your pics. From there, you can make a cd of them. Then, format your card in your camera to return it to factory specs.

Bluetooth

Back up first files on your memory card on your computer. then format the memory card on the pc. Then put back the formatted memory card and format it again on the phone. Take out your memory card then put it back again on your pc to copy your previous files. This should work.

Memory cards need also formatting same as HDD's

Hope this helps...

How to unlock sd memory card in nokia 6131

I have read so many questions how to unlock password-protected memory card. This happens very frequently to some of us (including me). Usually for security reasons, we protect our memory cards with password. It can be done from Memory Card application by selecting Options | Set password menu

For S60 1st and 2nd Phones
What should we do if we forget the password? For S60 1st and some of 2nd phones, such as Nokia 3650, Nokia 6600 and Nokia N-Gage, the password is stored in a plain text file.
  • Firstly, you need to install FExplorer, a free file manager that allows us to browser through S60 file system.
  • Next, launch FExplorer and then browser to c:\system folder. There is a file, called mmcstore.
  • Rename the file to mmcstore.txt and then open it. Your password must be several characters at the end of the file.
For S60 3rd Phones, Nokia N-Series and Nokia E-Series
Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the password in the latest S60 phones. The only way that I know so far is by reformatting the memory card. It can be done from Memory Card application by selecting Options | Format memory card menu. Of course, you will lose all your data in the memory card… icon_sad.gif
If any of you have experience unlocking password of memory card in latest S60 phones, feel free to share it here.

Camera not working - nokia 6131

Hi - Nokia 6131 cam . My cam stopped working when there was too many pics being stored. mine store on a 1 gig card ( reccomended ) and it is possible to periodically put them on my PC - you need a way to store them first before deleting - unless you dont mind just dumping some now and again. But it cured the prob. My cam now works ok. I think the card was not holding that many pics as it should because it was not 'formatted' , well . . . . we will see if it makes a difference. Regards Ian.
