Installing Operating System on New Blank Hard Drive

Did you partition the hard drive ? Make sure that it is compatible .Some HP computers will only allow you to use certain products and you can not upgrade\downgrade or change an operating system .Try going online on another computer and see if the devices in your netbook can be changed or upgraded. HP is big for "Thank you for your business & your stuck with it the way it is " I wish you luck .

My disk drive wont work after reebooting my acer

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

or
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall
or it might be a registry problem
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

How do I open my iCute 314 ATX case?

Hello!
The iCute 314 is a very easy case to open.
First, I assume that you are trying to get into the side panel of the case.  Lay down some protective paper or bubblewrap (so you don't mess up such a nice case!).
Then lay the case over on its side, with the clear side facing up. On the underside, you will see 4 chromed thumbscrews.  Unscrew these, making sure not to lose them. Taking the side cover off is somewhat different from a lot of cases in that you slide it towards the *FRONT* of the case instead of backwards.
Closing up the case is just as simple as reversing the above steps. IMPORTANT NOTE:  For all repairs/mods, you should have the power disconnected before messing around with anything inside the case.
Note 2:  If you don't know what you are doing, don't mess around inside the case!  I have had more repairs not from computer part failure, but from people messing around inside the 'puter without knowing what they were doing.
I hope all of this helps.  You do have a nice case for your system!
Ken

C:/,d:/ problem

hi there,
firstly u had a virus on your system... but u know this aleady... so lets deal with what the virus left behind...

try this out:-

Open the Windows "Start" menu and select "Run...". In the Run box type

C:\autorun.inf -r -h -s and click OK
then
E:\autorun.inf -r -h -s
OK and so on for all affected drives.

Finally check the volume root of each drive for autorun.inf file.
Is that file present in any drive? If so, manually delete it.

then do this:-

1. You have to tell Windows to show hidden and protected system files first.

2. Then you should search your computer for all instances of files with the name autorun (ANY extension) and delete them. DO NOT DOUBLE-CLICK on discs that have any such files because you will again be infected!

3. Launch regedit - but make sure u backup your reg. first...

a ) Find the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/Winlogon
and check the value of the parameter Userinit. This should read C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, nothing more.
If Windows is installed on another disc, then, of course the disc will be indicated.

b ) Completely delete the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/MountPoints2.

This last step should be repeated for all user accounts on your computer. You should then restart your computer and that's it.

Major PC Crash!!!!!

what operating system are you using? If its windows xp and you are using your factory restore discs, you might want to try using a normal windows xp disc and doing a fresh install. Another option is that your hard drive is bad or is going bad. I would download the ultimate boot cd and run seatools off the ubcd. Check your hard drive to see if its still ok.
