I turn on my computer and although the mouse and the keyboard are connected they won't work. I am sure the mouse and the keyboard are fine. There is something wrong with the desktop.

Base from the description of your problem it seems that your computer is having some issue in recognizing your mouse and keyboard.

So what you can do here first is to power off the computer manually by pressing the power button until it shut down, then once its OFF unplug and replug your mouse and keyboard from the computer then power it back ON and check if its fine now.

You should be a little bit more specific. But since you were not, I will try to be more specific about this.

First thing to know is that connecting keyboard and mouse to the computer will always work, no matter what. Meaning that once you connect either one, they will always work. Here are some things to try:

1. Check to make sure that the connector used for the computer is fine, its not broken or bent in the connecter. Check both the computer slot and the connector itself.

2. Make sure that the batteries are new if its wireless.

3. If mouse and keyboard use a separate connectors, and you know that mouse works. Try unplugging the mouse and connecting the keyboard in the same slot.

4. Try a different USB slot in the computer

5. Try a different keyboard all together

6. Make sure there are no off switches on the keyboard that might be in the off position.

I hope this helps.

Did some work on my pc now the keyboard is not working when i type letters or use keys they are not responding but my mouse is working

You should check the connection of you mouse and keyboard to see if they are properly connected. If the connections are okay you should go to the manufacturer website and download and install the drivers for the mouse and keyboard,i cannot give you the link because i am not sure what type of mouse and keyboard you are using. If you are using wireless mouse and keyboard you should replace the battery inside both of them and make sure the receiver is turn on.After you try these solution your mouse and keyboard should work fine.

Wireless Keyboard not connecting

I opened up the Logitech Mouse and Keyboard Settings, turned my keyboard off, changed out the batteries and turned it back on. It then detected the Keyboard and asked for a password, I entered in the password, it said it was rebooting it and asked for another password which I entered (both passwords were given to me in the Settings). Now it is working just fine! Not sure if you have tried this but it might work for you.

Mouse and keyboard not recognized on second computer

Solution for the mouse. I have 8 KVM's. Most of my computers work with the KVMs. On 1 inland KVM the logitect and Microsoft optical mice do not work on one computer (but work with the other computers). They both are USB. I hook them up with a USB to PS2 adapter. If I use a ps2 ball mouse connected to the KVM the mouse works. All the Mice work if I directly connect them. Since I do not want a ball mouse I got a Frisby optical PS2 mouse. It works with all the computers on the KVM's.

I do not have a solution for the Keyboard yet. 1 computer (ASUS MB) on my trendnet or belkin 4 postion KVM does not recognize the keyboard.

Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

Keyboard not working...

Have you pressed the connect button on the bottom (or side) of the keyboard. Having the mouse working means that all the rest of the kit is working, (as the reciever can connect to the mouse) if the keyboard will not connect (after pressing connect a few times)it seems that you have a dud transmitter in the keyboard, This does happen unfortunately (the oscilator crystal fails) if within warrantee try to get it replaced. Hope this helps
