Norton is famous for this kind of problem. You can call their tech support, or just get AVG Free, which is what I've used for years. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

You have to configure the firewall to permit the internet work properly. If do not understand the setting uninstall it first then reinstall it back with sincere understanding about the each question asked by it.
Firewall are desinged to permit internet to work well
SOURCE: I maintain the network at a local school that uses
This is a very bad idea from a security standpoint.
By poking a hole in your firewall you are going to allow a lot more than parents to access the student's data. Once you do that I know that I could access every single computer on the internal network. Trust me, I work in IT security.
I am sure if you tell the parents that accessing the reports will endanger their children they will re-evaluate there needs.
Find a dedicated IT security professional and work with them to find a safe way for parents to get this data. For example, an automated email list that will send reports to parents is a much safer solution. Another method is to utilize a DMZ.
I am sorry to be the one to say this it but if you are coming to FixYa.com for security solutions you are way out of your league.
If I found a hole like this in my kid's school network I would sue the school!

Title: Setting up Cable Internet for the RV082
Article ID: 16585
Most cable Internet Service Providers (ISP) use a
Media Access Control (MAC) Authentication to establish Internet
connections for end-users. A MAC address is assigned a unique 48-bit
(6-byte) integer that is attached to an Ethernet NIC for each computer.
To set-up your Linksys router to a Cable ISP, you have to do MAC
Cloning. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the
MAC address of the PC that's registered with the ISP.
NOTE: Before proceeding, use the computer that can go online when connected to the modem and follow the steps below.
Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable
without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection
is active. If it is not, contact your ISP. If it can go online, the PC
connected to the modem is the one that's registered with the ISP.
NOTE: The image may vary depending on the computer and modem you're using.
Step 2:
Once an active Internet connection is established
through the modem, connect the modem and the computer to the router by
following the instructions below.
Step 3:
After ensuring that you have an active Internet
connection, connect the modem to the router's Internet port and the
computer to any of the four Ethernet ports.
Step 4:
The Linksys router's front panel will indicate the status of the
connection. After connecting the broadband modem to the WAN or Internet
port, the computer to an available numbered port and powering on the
router check the lights on the front panel of the router. For
instructions, click here.
Step 5:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
Step 6:
Go to the Setup - Network, click the drop-down arrow under the WAN Connection Type field and select Obtain an IP automatically for WAN1.
NOTE : If you are going to have another Cable Internet as well in WAN2, select obtain an IP automatically as well.
Step 7:
Click Save Settings.
Step 8:
Check in the System Summary if the router is getting a WAN1 IP or WAN2 IP.
NOTE: If there are no IP addresses seen in this field, go back to Setup then click the More option to reveal the MAC Clone settings.
Step 9:
Select MAC Address from this PC.
Step 10:
Click Save Settings Button.
Step 11:
Click System Summary. Check the value of the WAN1 or WAN2.
If these have numbers, this means the router has been properly
configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you're not
online, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem.
NOTE: If the WAN1 IP or WAN2 IP is all zeroes (0.0.0.0) click first Release then click Renew buttons. If the WAN1 IP or WAN2 IP is still all zeroes (0.0.0.0) perform a power cycle.
If the IP Address starts with 192.168.1.xxx
or if it has the same first three numbers (octets) as the router's IP
address, change the router's LAN IP address to a different LAN segment.
Step 12:
Once the router is configured, perform a power
cycle. Shutdown the computer and Unplug the router's power cable. Unplug
the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for 30 seconds then plug in
the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for its lights to appear
stable. Plug in the router's power cable once the modem's lights appear
stable.
Step 13:
Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
NOTE: If you're not online after performing this
procedure, you may need to upgrade the firmware of the router. For
instructions, click here .

Checking the Router's LEDs
Step 1:
Make sure the System LED is lit.
NOTE: If the Diag LED doesn't goes off, you need to upgrade the router's firmware. For instructions, click here .
Step 2:
Make sure the LAN 1-8 ports is lit depending on the computers connected to the designated Ethernet port.
NOTE: If the LAN 1-8 port is not lit, make sure that the computer is powered on. You can also try connecting the PC using another working cable.
Step 3:
Make sure the Internet (WAN1) and DMZ/Internet (WAN2) LED is lit.
NOTE: If the Internet or DMZ/Internet LED is not lit make sure the Broadband modem is powered on and that the modem is properly connected to the Ethernet port
You can access the web-based user interface utility of the RV082 by using one of two methods:
1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator)
· By IP address: Type http://192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1 is the default IP address of the RV082)
and click Go or press the [Enter] key.
· By Hostname: Type http://RV082 and click Go or press the [Enter] key.
2. When the username and password prompt appears, type admin in both the username and password fields. (admin is both the default username and default password for the RV082).
