Hi, I bought a Samsung RSH1NBRS fridge/freezer (stainless steel/?colour). Unfortunately, it has lots of deep scratch marks during its transport in a van. How can I reduce/remove these? Perhaps any form...

depending on the quality of stainless steel some professional metal workers can buff it but I would recommend against trying it yourself.

My houselady cleaned my fridge today with a stainless steel cleaner and now it looks like there is a blue residue on my fridge that will not come off. Is it ruined?

I am not exactly sure how to remedy your specific issue but I know of a site that sells decorative covers for your appliances. Check them out at www.applianceart.com These guys have covers for all occasions and even stainless steel. Hope this helps.

How do you get fine scratches of the stainless steel door?

Firstly remove the handle, find the "allen" screws at underside of handle ends. Start first with a coarse towel and "re-scratch" the area. If that was not enough becoming more aggressive, use much care/ gentle pressure- a 3m scotch brite #7447 "going with the grain", you in essence are removing those scratches with scratches. Use DeBruce Polish with the grain for rourine cleaning and touch-ups. We use DeBruce Polish on all of our stainless steel. Non-toxic, non-abrasive and odorless, DeBruce Polish also works on glass cook tops. We get DeBruce Polish at debrucepolish.com.

How to remove scratches from stainless steel appliances

Try this at your own risk. Step 1 Consider using a product made for stainless steel2_bing.gif such as Scratch-B-Gone or Bar Keepers Friend (see Tips).
  • Step 2 Or, try spraying an all-purpose cleaner (such as Formula 4092_bing.gif) on the scratches.
  • Step 3 Use a non-metal scouring pad (such as Scotch-Brite pads) to rub the cleaner in, always rubbing in the direction of the grain.
  • Step 4 Keep the stainless steel wet with the cleaner as you work, and rinse the pad often.
  • Step 5 Rinse the surface and wipe dry.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });
    Tips & Warnings
    • Before using any treatment on your stainless cookware, sink or appliances, it is wise to call the manufacturer for advice.
    • A new product called Scratch-B-Gone is touted as the "first aid kit for stainless steel." You can find it at many home improvement stores.
    • Bar Keepers Friend is another product for stainless steel. It can be found in most grocery or home improvement stores, or at www.barkeepersfriend.com.
    • To keep stainless steel sinks from scratching, put a rubber mat in the bottom of the sink to protect it.
    • Avoid using abrasive

    Stainless Steel Sink Question

s with most things, your stainless steel sink WILL scratch with use. However, over time as the sink ages, scratches will become less apparent and in fact blend into the surface. Minor scratches on the inside surfaces of the bowl may be blended into the sink by lightly rubbing a Scotchbrite pad in the direction of the finish grain. Be sure to rinse thoroughly with water and towel dry after this procedure, removing any particles left over from the Scotchbrite as you rinse.

    Scratches on stainles steel door

IF IT IS BRUSHED STAINLESS, AND THE SCRATCHES ARE REALLY BAD, YOU COULD TRY SOME STEEL WOOL TO SOFTEN THE SCRATCHES, BUT IT WILL BE A TRADE OFF OF MINIMIZING THE SCRATCHES AND CAUSING A SMEARED LOOK TO THE BRUSHED STAINLESS PATTERN.

    SCRATCHED STAINLESS STEEL SINK

Have you tried a really fine steel wool? I don't know if this would work. I have stainless steel farmhouse sink, front exposed all stainless steel. My contractor scratched it up horribly when he was putting it into the kichen. he fixed it amazingly with a fine steel wool pad. I don't know if your scratch is too deep for that but it couldn't hurt. The scratches on our sink were surface but very noticeable. Hope this helps.
