Question about Kitchen Ranges
I have a FGF379WECS ( I believe the letters at the end of the model just denotes your finish; my unit is stainless steel) with a serial number in a similar range as your's.
I purchased my stove from Sears winter of 1999/200.

Firstly, The guy who tested with a lighter needs reporting to the professional body that qualfies gas engineers (In the UK he would have to be "CORGI registered" I presume you have similar in the US). Had he found a substantial leak with his lighter he could have exposed you to a lethal explosion.
Here is a vers safe ameture way to see if you have a leak:
First: Vevtilate the room so there is no smell of gas, open all the windows and doors and let the air blow through. If there is any hint of a gas smell, just call out a gas emergency service.
It's unlikely taht your leak is that bad and if you are happy that lighting the stove is not going to cause an explosion, do the following:
The time it took the burner to go out immediately after turning off the gas and the time it took after your 30-60 minute wait SHOULD be the same.
If it took less time to go out after the wait period, it's because some gas leaked out somewhere.
If the time was the same you have no leak.
If this demonstrates you DO have a leak, my advice would be to call out the idiot who tested the stove the first time and go through the test with him. Then, demand a refund on pain of you reporting him for a health and safety violation if you don't get your money back. Now throw him out of the house.
Call out someone who is more competent (Shouldn't be difficult, a trained chimp would probably out perform this guy!)
You can test the new guy's work the same way before he leaves too!
There is NO WAY that a leak like this should force you into a replacement stove unless someone can demonstrate what the failing component is and that costs more to replace than a new stove.
Hope all the above helps. Please drop a comment on this thread to let me know how you got on, or if you need any further advice
