Ds not working

When you put the game in, after it clicks hold it down and do not let go. turn on your ds and see if it reads it. If it doesn't, check the pins in the slot 1 slot and maybe just put some water on a q-tip and wipe them gently. If it reads when you hold it down maybe just tape it that way or something. Check the game also to see if there are scratches on the gold part. If this all doesn't work then I am out of solutions. Or you could send it to nintendo because if they can't fix it, you get a new DS.
