115v electrical hookup for dayton motor 1TMY6

Dayton manufacturing is owned by WW Grainger
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?searchQuery=1TMY6&op=search&Ntt=1TMY6&N=0&GlobalSearch=true&sst=subset

Contact Grainger 1-800-323-0600
They will have wiring information for each of their products.

The wiring diagram should appear on side of unit.
This 1.5 Hp motor can be wired for 115 or 230 volts

My AO Smith manual would not be specific to your motor.
With AO Smith 115-230V, there are one set of wiring terminals for incoming wires from breaker box. The other wires connect to terminals.
Copy following illustration link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Motor-wiring-500.jpg

Wire and breaker size:
For 120Volt, use 20 amp breaker and 12 gauge wire up to 25 feet.
Over 25 feet up to 100 feet, use 30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire.
100-150 feet use 8 gauge wire and 40 amp breaker.
150-200 feet use 6 gauge wire and 50 Amp breaker.

What the codes

You want delay fuse instead of fast-acting fuse. Look for delay on product description.
Since the motor has a high amp draw when first starting, then that means surge of heat traveling over wire.
Fuse trips when sensing heat.
Delay fuse will accept high heat for longer period of time before tripping.

You have 1 Hp 6K321 motor from WW Grainger. You can contact grainger.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-General-Purpose-Motor-6K321?Pid=search

I recommend that you use 12 gauge wire and 20 amp fuse. Over-sizing wire will save heat loss and prevent damage to motor, and heat damage fuse box.

If you use smaller 14 gauge wire and 15 amp fuse, the motor will heat the wire, especially if length of wire is longer than 100 feet from fuse.
The motor has thermal protection, so motor is not overheating.
The wire is overheating.

Dayton 1/2 hp dual voltage motor overheats (mtr #6k79). Replaced original motor with same motor overheats in 10 -30 minutes. White lead to #4 terminal, black lead to #1 terminal, ground to casing.

Wiring would be for low voltage 1-3, 4-2. L1 feeds 1-3 and L2 feeds
4-2. For high voltage L1 feeds 1 and L2 feeds 4 with the 2-3 terminals linked by wire or bus bar.
