Question about PC Desktops

ROXIO CREATOR LE DELL EDITION CAME WITH MY COMPUTER AND WORKED PERFECTLY UNTIL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. I CAN BURN DVD'S, AND I CAN ADD PICTURES TO A DISC WITH PICTURES IF IT SAYS APPENDABLE. WHEN I PUT IN A NEW BLANK CD, AT FIRST IT WOULD WORK NOW AND THEN, BUT NOW DOES NOT RECOGNIZE A CD AT ALL, JUST SAYS "PLEASE INSERT A RECORDABLE DISC". I FOUND A WEB SITE http://docs.sonic.com/support/px/pxengine2_08-40D.EXE. IN A LETTER SOMEONE WROTE FOR SUPPORT, BUT THIS SITE IS NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE HELP ME. DELL TOLD ME I NEED A NEW CD DRIVE, BUT I THINK IT IS THE DRIVER CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

    I'm having the same problem as well as these annoying error messages every time I close the program even if I didn't do anything! On top of that, Dell did not see fit to include the CD so I could reinstall the program (I'm telling ya - I have always bought Dell but NEVER again - their quality and customer service has gone down the tubes) Someone on another board said the problems seemed to start after Windows Media Player upgraded to version 11. I think that's when my issues started, too. What version of WMP player do you have? Dell's answer? Pay to upgrade the software. They can bite me.

    I am having the same problem and the Dell support was only available if you continued their "warranty" service! So much for Dell! My Roxio version is 5.2.0 and Dell keeps telling me I have all the necessary driver updates when I click the update link.

Ok - the link I found for a fix for the error messages also seems to have fixed the problem with disks not being recognized! Apparently it is all linked to WMP 11. So....here's the link to the fix:

How to Burn MP4 to DVD?

It is not difficult actually.
If you're a Windows user, Windows Media Player will not be a stranger to you. It's the Window's defaulted media player which also provides the facility to burn CDs and data DVDs with your DVD burner drive. You can use Windows Media Player to copy music, pictures, and videos on your computer to a blank CD or DVD.

Apple actually offers several apps for its users to edit videos and burn videos to DVD on Mac, like iMovie, iDVD, Final Cut series, etc. iMovie and Final Cut series are used for video editing, while iDVD is a specialized video to DVD bunring program for all Mac computers.

While Windows Media Player only creates data DVD disc from MP4 files and iDVD may fail to recognize your MP4 video source, Leawo DVD Creator successfully avoids these shortcomings and becomes the best choice for you to burn MP4 to DVD on Mac and PC. officially known as Leawo Blu-ray Creator, you can easily convert and burn AVCHD to playable DVD disc for playback on your home Blu-ray Disc Player or PS3.
Here is the detailed tutorial on how to burn MP4 to DVD on Mac and PC with Leawo DVD Creator.

Refurbished Dell Optiplex GX280 with DVD/CD-RW Drive will not recognize blank CDs in order to burn music. I was told by the seller that I had to purchase burn software. (I also had to purchase CinePlayer...

The windows might be corrupted. You could try editing the windows registry. here are the steps:

In order to delete upper and lower filters you're going to have to edit the registry. The usual cautions apply. If the registry is not edited properly your whole system can crash.

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
* SYSTEM
* CurrentControlSet
* Control
* Class
* {4D36E965-E325-11CE-
BFC1-08002BE10318}

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

* UpperFilters
* LowerFilters
* UpperFilters.bak
* LowerFilters.bak

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

last option, you could try installing imgburn. here's the download link: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

If nothing happens, your dvd drive is bad.

Good Luck,

Ryan

Burn cds

Hi first thing go to

start
control panel
printers and other hardware
system (on left side)
hardware
device manager
DVD / CD rom drives

does it show up as a burner? DVD-RW or CD-RW
if not it may have a wrong driver installed If windows does not recognize it as a burner it will never work untill you get past the driver issue.

If the correct driver is installed
should be pretty simple there are many ways to burn
right click on a file and select SEND TO and send it to your burner usually drive D add all your files then select BURN FILES

or if they are media files you can use Windows Media Player

if all else fails track down a copy of Nero burning rom software or Roxio easy media creator.

Finally having said all that are you using the correct media?
if you try to burn files using a DVD on a non DVD burner it won't work.

also older burners were finicky and you had to watch your + and -'s

meaning if a DVD-R isn't working then try a DVD+R

if its an older burner you may consider upgrading it, a DVD burner can be bought on ebay or newegg for about $50 and its only a 2 cable install so its not to hard.

Another more extreme solution is to save all your files which you should be keeping in the "my documents" folder and do a system restore. (requires the factory restore disks)

This is very time intensive and can be VERY tricky but if the computer has been running for 3 plus years and is running slow it could probably use a fresh start and anything that has been corrupted over the years gets wiped away.

Hope that helps

I purchased a Dell Computer back in 2004 which came with Sonic Digital Media Plus v7. My PC has Windows XP Operating System. A few days ago I decided to install Version 6.0 of Roxios Easy CD/DVD Burning...

Try uninstalling Roxio and the Sonic drives and run Fixit. Then reboot and install Roxio first then the Sonic driver.
If this doesn't work uninstall again as previously, install Roxio and check the CD/DVD if necessary run Fixit then install Sonic driver.

Hello,

I am a Roxio support agent.

There is an article to resolve general burning issues here:
http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20Information/000008GN?set-locale=en

If this does not help, please let me know which version of Creator you are using. Also, please describe what errors you are seeing and how you get to them.

Having installed Roxio Creator 10, I get a recurring message: "RoxMMTrayApp Module has encountered a problem and needs to close." Etc. It occurs even when I am not editing with that software. ...

ROXIO Multi Media Tray Application Module Has Encountered a problem and needs to close.

This Means ROXIO Creator 10 Try Application Encountered an error.

And since it happens while burning a disc

You should

1. Uninstall ROXIO Creator 10 , and reinstall it to make sure nothing is corupted.

2. If you still get the same problem it's time to check your intire system for errors.

This can mean you will need to take trouble shooting steps.

1. Use another burning program to see if you can burn without errors.

2. if you can burn fine with another burning program like NERO then chances are
you have an incompatability with ROXIO Creator 10 and should consult the documentation
to see if your drive is actually supported by it.

Do these things weed hopper and all will be well with you.

You haven't mention which OS you are working with. I guess it is Windowsxp. Download nero and install it. It might help you to burn your files.I think that Roxio media creator is incompatible with your current OS.
