From your comment it is not understood that you want to protection off from the HDD or files in it.

move all your data to other drive, all the security settings will be withdrawn while moving to other drive. if is NTFS fs then you got to reformat to use as fat32 for full protection off.

Drive C shows low disc space but is only half full

This could be caused by a virus, or you could simply have a small HDD with a newer version of your OS. Certainly I recommend running a full scan with the free version of Ad-Aware Anti-Virus from Ad Aware Free Antivirus and Antispyware by Lavasoft Protection from... to start with. Also, if you have a smaller hard drive, something around 40GB or less, newer versions of the Windows OS will not consider the percentage of the drive's storage space in use, but only the raw amount of free space available on said drive.

Another possibility involves the paging file and its size, something which would be a concern on any modern OS. If your paging file, or virtual memory allocation, is too large, you can receive warnings about low disk space because even when it is not in use that storage space is counted as "in use" by your OS.

Finally, in general these types of problems can result from not performing routine maintenance on your HDD and its partition(s) and file system(s). Running a file-system integrity scan and a thorough defragmentation operation on your drive is a good idea just on principle alone.

Can I install a NEW 1T HDD where an old HDD failed?

In a lot of cases, the recovery disks you built may be looking for installation files (windows installation files) from a partition that is on the original drive of the machine. Your new drive would not contain this partition or the files. If you can STILL get into the old drive, I would consider putting both drives in your desktop.....and then use an disk imaging software to do a disk to disk clone of your drive rather than reinstalling Windows from the recovery disk. There are plenty of options for free cloning software.....just google free disk imaging, and you will probably find a ton of options with instructions. One thing to note....when cloning a drive be VERY careful when choosing your SOURCE and DESTINATION drives. Your SOURCE would be your old drive with your data, and your DESTINATION is your new drive. If you mess up that step, it will overwrite your old drive with the "blank" data from the new drive, and your data will be lost.

The other advantage to cloning, is you will get an exact replica of your current configuration. you dont need to reinstall programs or reconfigure things.

System Primary HDD is protected by a password authentication syst

is the bios setting protecting the pc with a password prompt? if so you may have to bipass the password by exposing the cpu, open the case ground yourself, remove the lithium battery, count to fifteen seconds, reinstall the battery turn it on. If it is the operating system you may have to log-into the admin settings to remove the password setting, if you have admin priviledges you can do so. if not all i can suggest to you is re-format your hard drive, and re-install windows. if you choose to re-add a passcode enter a passcode that is easy to-remember that can be thought of in plain sight that you speak daily. back up your files, photos and videos so in case this happens again you can recover your important files. if your a just like myself and, don't want this drama i would refuse to use windows, and switch to ubuntu desktop, red hat linux desktop, or xandros desktop

Sata hdd windows dell recovery cd will partition install windows

The system is originally designed to use IDE HDD, make sure the necessary chages for Sata HDD are made in the BIOS, next make sure the Recovery disc is fine without any scratches. You can order a new Windows OEM recovery disc by calling Dell tech support (1-800-624-9896-US) and try installing the OS. The disc will cost you not more than $12.

How do i restore the aspire 5535 RM 72.I've reformatted the HDD and lst some info ..Help

The format has removed all the pointers to your information. There is software to look at the disk and recover some data. This is not a job for amateurs and there can be no guarantees that the file(s) you are looking for will be found. Remember the 3 important rules for data protection: 1, back up, 2, back up, 3, back up

I have intel DG31PR mother board and samsung SATA HDD and i installed windowsXP. Actually it was working fine for the last two months. But now the BIOS does not detect the HDD.

If the HDD isn't detected, this means either the HDD has failed or the disk controller has failed.
Most likely the HDD has failed, remove the drive and test it in another computer as a slave drive, if the other computer can see the drive and the files then the drive is OK and the fault is the motherboard/controller.
Alternately you can also test the HDD with a USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port, if the computer sees it as an external drive and the files then the HDD is OK.

Because the user settings on your old computer with the hard drive installed as master were password protected, your getting the error.

There may be other work arounds I don't know of, I just do a general search, files and folders, and then direct it to look in E:/

1.Try using a CD-ReWriter Drive instaed of simple CD Rom drive. Some CD's can be read on CD-RW drives which are unaccessable on CD ROMs.
2.Use the CD burning program "NERO" (or anyother) to read files on your CD through its menu just before burning. Then copy those files to your HDD if you want to save your data.
