I recently put a new alternator in my 1995 camaro. Now when i turn over the key the security light comes on and stays on solid (not flashing) The car won't start. I already tried bypassing the vats with the correct resistors. Still won"t start. The code for the key is a 14 or 9.53 ohms. What worries me is everything I've read about the vats talks about the security light flashing, mine is on solid. CAN THE RESISTENCE ON THE VATS CHANGE?

Auto Electrician or Auto Locksmith / Alarm installer. You need the pro grade scan tool computer. Diagnose and programme.

Generally you can't workaround the ECM, BCM and modules controlling anti theft and immobilizer despite what the internet says. You have to fix what's wrong not find a way around it.

ur ignition key cylinder is worn out tripping the the security system

take the negative cable off battery for 30 min then put ut back on insert your key turn it on half way let sit for 3 min then turn it off and then start it up normally

actually a pretty easy fix. The pass key computer lost its programming. Put the key in and leave it on with the security light flashing. Just turn off all your accessories and make sure battery is pretty good charge. Anyway after you leave the key on for ten minutes the security light will come on steady so turn key off and right back on and start car. If security light still starts blinking and car stalls then do it again. It will usually work the first time but can take a few times to get it right.

I had a problem with a 97 Achieva recently.Someone else replaced the PCM/ignition switch and passlock sensor.I replaced the ICP.Engine would turn over but wouldn't start and the security lamp was dim and flashing and then it would go solid.I tried the wait 10 minutes thing but,the light would never go off! I put the original passlock sensor back onto the lock cylinder. But this is what fixed the problem.I cleaned the contacts on the black wires and green on the ignition switch with tv tuner cleaner! After I cleaned those contacts the security light was flashing brightly.So I turned the key to run and left it there.After a few minutes it stayed on solid.I waited about 10 minutes but the light never went out.So I turned off the switch and then tried starting.It started right up and the security lamp flashed and then went off.Has started every time since.Note:I also scraped the pins that I cleaned with the cleaner with a knife.

this process will take about half an hour to doyou might want to put a battery charger on it on the low setting because if the battery dies in process u have to start over.first thing is try to start car,it might start then stall,when that happens leave the key in the on position and the security light will be flashing and it will keep doin it for 10 minutes,then it will stay on solid,when it does that turn the key off for 2 seconds then turn it to the on position anfd the light will be flashing agian for 10 minutes,then it will be on solid,then turn the key off for 2 seconds and then back on and 10 minutes later when it stops flashing this time u should be able to start it and the light should be off,hope this helps

traction switch is located next to drivers left knee on bottom of dash....you should be able to turn off the traction light there by just turning on the traction control.....the security light is telling you that there is a problem with your security system....could just need a new key with a new computer chip....make sure the key is clean and dry when using so it can read the chip....the security light comes on whenever your start the car and stays on for approximatley 2 minutes and then should go out....it is just a reminder....try this and see if it works....lock the door using the power switch on door.....close door and see if the security light comes on....watch and it should go out after about 2 minutes...if it does then your alarm is activated and working....to disarm you need to unlock the driver door with the key...anything else will set the alarm off and the lights will start flashing and the horn honking...after you set the alarm off you will always have to use the key to unlock the drivers door to turn off the alarm and reset the security system.

try locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key. hope this helps. mike

leave key in "ON" position (not start) for EXACTLY 10 MINUTES! As SOON as the light shuts off, turn key and start key.

Every time you put key in, turn and start right away, DO NOT HESITATE.

There is a problem with the car's computer causing this problem IN ALL GM VEHICLES.

On the Ignition Cylinder lock ( the Key Thingy ) the wire is probably broke going to the puter.. Meaning ya need a new cylinder lock... and getting the Blank key programmed. about a 200 dollar fix..
