Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Auto focus I have only had my camera for a short period of time and it worked great when I got it but now I can't focus in a picture. I have messed around with all of the settings but nothing is working. The automatic focus is not working at all. I can't even zoom in or out because the pics are still blurry.

My pl1 camera has blurred pictures but when lens taken out, its ok.

Are you using an auto-focus m4/3 lens? I have about 20 lenses for this camera and only 1 of them is an auto-focus m4/3 lens. I have an adapter so I can use my 4/3 lenses on it in auto-focus mode along with other various mounts (including cctv) that do not support auto-focus. So if you are using a non-auto-focus lens, you will need to manually focus the pictures.
If you are certain it is an auto-focus lens, are you sure you have it set to auto-focus?
What settings do you have your camera set to (aperature mostly is what I'd like to know)? Try adjusting your aperature to be small (to increase your DOF).
Also what lens are you using and what is your focal distance? It could be your lens has a larger or shallower focal distance than what you are trying to achieve (like a macro lens doesn't work that great for landscape photography or a telephoto lens doesn't work great for macro photography).
Last thought: is your lens or sensor dirty? A dirty lens can cause focusing issues if it is REALLY dirty and a dirty sensor can too (sensor is a bigger pain to clean. I strongly recommend taking it to the pros as they scratch really easily). Dirty lenses can be cleaned with a blower and a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol if those 2 things don't clear it out.

My Nikon D40x will not always take a picture when I push the shutter and will not focus whats wrong with it?

I have the same problem and I make this: take out the zoom lens from the body and put it again. The auto-focus comes back. Another my solution: Push autofocus buton to M (manual) and back to A (auto). Then sometimes starts again to work autofocus. But still I know it is not final solution...

I am using smasung ES73 digital camera, and i dont know why everytime i took pictures most of it are blurred.. i wonder how to fix this problem..thankyou

Make sure you hold down the shutter button half-way before taking the shot and let the camera auto-focus. Also make sure the lens is clean, as grime and fingerprints can mess up the auto-focus. If that doesn't work, the motor drive in the lens is probably broken and needs to be sent in for repair.

Lens will not auto focus any more.

Hi there!

I experienced the exact same problem with my 100-300mm lens and I was never able to get it to work correctly again. In fact, attempting to use it further seemed to exacerbate the problem.

The further you zoom, the wider the aperture opens allowing more light for the camera to focus properly. If the aperture mechanism is damaged, the auto-focus process may not work as it should; which would explain why the auto-focus feature works only when at 18mm.

Regardless, I strongly recommend you discontinue use of the lens until a professional technician can examine the lens and figure out what's going on. I'm sure you can contact the manufacturer to open a support case or you can find a camera store that offers repair services.

I hope this helps!

Auto Focus not working

It depends on how long you have owned the camera, but I find it doubtful that it would be waring out. Sometimes after messing with the auto focus buttons my camera no longer focuses on its own, I then reset the settings and re-select auto focus. This always fixes my problem. I hope you find a solution. God bless...

Auto focus isn't working

Hi curzwhit, You question is becoming a recurring theme with this 18-55 lens. My suggestion to others is to see if a vacuum on the zoom may pull out any grit, dirt, and the like. Another thing to do is use an alcohol wipe to clean the contacts on both the lens and the camera. If none of that works then off to Nikon this lens should go. These are not pro lens, not well weather sealed, so they are more susceptible to the elements. One other question is does the auto focus work with other lens? If not it is the camera, if so it is the lens.

Autofocus malfunction

This camera is a great unit living in Iraq is not good for these camera because sand gets inside of the lens unit causing it to bind up and stop auto focusing. Some times this can be cleared up by taking off the lens and gently tapping it glass down to try and free up the dirt or in your case sand. if the fails take the lens and blow it out with high pressure air from both sides the problem is the ultra sonic motor that controls the auto focus is clog with sand causing you issue the problem 99% is your issue. hope this helps.

Nikon N55 Won't take picture in Auto Focus Mode?

There was a recall on the N55 due to auto focus problems. You can do a google search or nikon.com email the support team and they will send you the paper. This is what I did, I wasn't charged since I had the correct papers. I, however, used one roll of film and my focus went out again! Mine doesn't even work on manual... If you want to try that maybe you will hae better luck than me. GOOD LUCK!

Bad focus when tacking pictures

I had the same problem and disabled the hand grip and full time autofocus. Works perfect now. I must have been doing something wrong with the hand grip in the act of shooting. In fact I sent mine back to the factory and it still wouldn't auto focus. It was my problem. I feel like a slice of cheese for sending it back.
