Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

1 Answer

Stand By light blinks 9 times.

I have seen on this site that you are familiar with this problem and it involves the power supply. Can you tell me specifics on what needs to be replaced? Part number, location on board, etc...?

TV wont turn on. Red light flashes about 8 or 9 times. Then it repeats itself.

Unless you feel qualified to diagnose electronic circuit boards then it needs to be seen by a technician because the blinking light is a code for what board has gone bad and usually when one goes bad there is other issues as well, but not always. Most likely it is your power supply board as they tend to die more frequently due to the heat involved in them. Unfortunatly there are no resets for this condition.

My Panasonic TH-42PZ80U has a blinking light. It blinks two times.

Generally a two blink code means a faulty power supply. You can buy a replacement power supply online. I've seen them as low as around $120. I'm doing factual research for a potential class action lawsuit regarding these blinking light problems, so I'm pretty familiar with this stuff now. From most of the complaints I've seen people post, if you have a tech replace the power supply it usually costs between $450-$600 including the tech's labor time.
I'd like to hear more about your personal experience with the television. If you would be willing to share your story with me, please send me an email at kiaeger@levjen.com.

Will not turn on, power light blinks 10 times, pauses and then blinks 10 times.....

There are likely two separate power supplies in your set; one main supply and probably an additional high voltage supply required by the plasma display. The 10 blinks probably are telling you which but only the maker or a tech familiar with this set would know. You might try calling a Panasonic service center in your area and they can surely tell you with the model number and blink count.

Sony TV stuck in stand by mode

the 9 blink code is caused by a bad diode on the pc board. The zero crossing detect circuit is not allowing the power supply to come on .

Sony trinitron tv

If you have sound but no picture it means that your power supply and tuner are working correctly. The number of times the timer LED blinks is the code for the problem with the picture. The computer will stop the picture and blink the timer LED if the vertical circuit stops working, if the picture tube is too weak or if the horizontal sweep has stopped. The set should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with Sony sets.
