Smp1015 I bought my son a smp1015 mp3 and it will not read the usb cable. When I plug it into the usb port it says that there is new hardware, but then that is all it does. I am kind of computer illiterate so any help would be great. Thanks.

My computer is not reading it

hello

Connect your Sansa MP3 player to more than one USB port on your computer. Ensure that your computer USB port is not corrupt or disabled by testing at least two available ports. This is especially useful when you possess no other USB-based equipment.

Inspect your USB ports' status to ensure they are enabled on your computer. Right-click "My Computer" and launch "Properties" to verify the availability of such connections. Select "Device Manager" from the Hardware tab and click the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" from the list shown. If a red "X" is shown, the USB ports are disabled. Ensure your computer is updated by clicking "Start" and launching "Windows Update" from the Programs menu. Alternatively, inspect your USB port connectivity through your motherboard BIOS settings. Note that BIOS access and settings varies by mother board manufacturer.

Scan your computer for new hardware changes. From the Device manager, click the "Action" menu and select "Scan for hardware changes" while your Sansa MP3 player is connected. Allow your computer to attempt to find any physical component recently added in the event it failed to previously detect it.

Connect your Sansa player to a different computer. Test the connection on a different system's USB port to verify that the Sansa device's own connection has not been damaged. Inspect the USB ports on the computer in question as well to eliminate the possibility of both systems having problematic USB ports.

Change your Sansa MP3 player's USB plug. Sometimes the head of the plug may lose contact with the appropriate circuits. Obtain a secondary USB port at your local retail store and test it on an updated computer system.

My son's mp3 stopped playing yesterday. We plugged it into the computer. There's no response from the player and no indication from the computer. the usb ports on the computer work.

Are you plugging it infront or at the back USB port of the computer? Try turning it off first and then plug at the back usb port. Once plugged in, that would be the time you turn the MP3 player on. If the computer still does not detect the mp3 player as new usb device, then i guess the mp3 player must have been fried due to not being "safely removed" from the usb port. Make sure you are safely removing ALL usb devices when disconnecting them from the computer.

I cant figure out how to put pictures on my mozaic mp player by z

1. Plug one end of the USB cable to the USB port on your MP player.
2. Plug the other end of the USB cable to an empty port on your computer. The computer will automatically recognize it.
3. Double-click "My Computer" on your desktop. Your player will be listed as a hard drive on the new window.
4. Double-click your player to open it. Locate and open the "Media Library/Pictures" folder. Drag your JPEG photos to this folder to upload them to your player.
5. Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" button on the lower right of your screen. Highlight your player on the new hardware window, then click "Stop." When prompted, detach your player from your computer. This action prevents your player from loosing information.

Deleting mucis off of sylvania smp1015 mp3 player

Plug it into a PC and navigate to the mp3 player and delete the song(s) you don't want. For some reason the Sylvania does NOT like certain USB 2.0 ports such as the ones on my VIA-based shuttle, but it works fine with USB 1.1 ports.
