try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.
The Canon Pixma 5000 is an excellent photo printer! Check that ALL your ink cartridges have ink and also run a cleaning cycle as your heads may be dirty and also do an alignment run: check your manual for instructions.
Take the print head out of the machine and sit it in a saucer of very hot ( just off boil) water about 10mm deep for a minute. Take it out and sit in on a pad of paper towel to dry briefly before returning it and the cartridges into the machine. Give it a deep clean and try again. If still no good, the print head has probably had it.
Sounds like the print head is bad or seriously clogged. If you have done repeated print head cleanings with no success, I believe Canon sells the print head if your unit is out of warranty.
