All machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT.

Why Doesn't my sewing machine want to pick up the bobbin thread correctly?

if the bobbin case isn't turning properly are you sure you it in right.
Hold the lever on it out, slide the case on the spindle all the way and then release the lever. Also try a different length needle, it may be to long to allow a uniform stitch

First time on Brother XL 2610, threaded correctly but thread will make loops and then pull apart. WHat went wrong?

try adjusting the upper tension
change the needle
if you recieved a instruction manual with the machine, look for the part that tells about what fabrics go with which needles, & the thread should move easily thru the needle eye with out any problem

Call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and see if they have something. Or you can look at www.sewingmanualsonline.com and look at the Mademoiselle 1243 model instruction book,, they have a download for that at $10. The picture may let you know if it would work. Good luck

How to thread my machine

I did not have a Serger, all I have is an old sewing maching but appeared to thread from the left slot and any machine that I have had always threaded from the right side. Anyway, I found a neighbor who was able to figure it out. I would love to get a directional book for the machine if that was possible. The machine is a Brother Model No. VX581.

Go to www.brother-usa.com, and click on "Product Manuals" under "Support" on the menu on the left side of the page. You will need to select your model # from the pull-down menu, and then the manual will be available as a PDF download.
