Good day,

You have to set the CD as the first boot device in the BIOS.
When you power on the laptop press delete repeatedly until you are in the BIOS.
You then have to browse trough the tabs until you find Boot Priority.
On the first Priority set the CD-ROM and on the second Priority set your hard drive.
Save the settings and exit.

The machine will reboot and will ask you to press any button to boot from disk.
Press any button to launch the installer and you are on your way to install Windows.

Good luck!
Let me know if this solution was useful!

Regards

One of the function keys should get you into the boot menu, F9-F12, to manually select the CD/DVD drive. Pressing Esc or Tab on VAIO logo may display the right information to show which key to press.

Have you tried booting a standard Windows setup disc and checked if the hard disk is working ok?

How to format the Hard drive without a recovery Disk?

What you are saying is like "how to listen to Bryan Adams' music on your PC without having a PC". You are gonna need atleast a OEM edition of the operating system if you want to re-install. The OEM version costs about 40 bucks on stores like ebay and Amazon.

My computer is dead?

With the old drive in the computer you should be able to do a recovery with the disks furnished with the computer when you got it.

What you have to do with the new disk installed is go into the BIOS and set the disk to AUTO, then srrow net to Boot and set the boot priority to CD as first boot. Then hit F10 or go toe EXIT and say YES. Then with your Windows disk in the ROM drive start the computer and when the window asks whether to BOOT from disk or CD ROM, hit any key and follow the instructions. Including format the disk when it asks.
Hope this helps. Bud
