It sounds like the needle bar of the machine has come loose inside. This will need setting in the correct position height wise or you risk damaging the hook. Sorry but it may need to go to the repairer.

I have a lumina overlocker. It stopped working mid stitch with the needles just touching the fabric so I couldn't pull my work out. The handwheel turns and the motor is going, but the needles are not...

Sounds like a jam. Cut the threads before the eyes of the needle, and if you can get in to cut the looper threads just before they leave the loopers, that should help. Loosen the needle screws and try to rock the handwheel so you can get the fabric off. Clean the machine, install new needles, rethread, and you should be good to go.

Singer 974 MY NEEDLE WOULDN'T MOVE WHEN I TURN THE HAND WHEEL AND MY HAND WHEEL WOOBLES. HOW CAN I FIX IT?

slacken the small stop screw and remove the centre free motion knob. the balance wheel should now be free to turn independent of the shaft. you will have exposed the friction washer. clean all surfaces and relocate the washer with the two locating lugs facing outwards into the two slots in the shaft and refit the knob and screw. if the screw bottoms on the friction washer remove knob and turn the friction through 180 degrees and try it again

Motor stopped; locked handwheel

Remove the needles. See if the handwheel moves now. Since it's a new machine, consult with the seller.

Janome s950 sewing machine top thread keeps breaking?

Well, Madalyn, when was the last time you oiled the machine. Go to http://fixsewingmachine.com for tips on that and on tension, timing, cleaning the shuttle race, etc. , but now, let's talk about this particular problem you are having: it sounds to me like you could use a new needle of the correct size for the type of fabric/weight of fabric you are sewing. Also, sometimes sewists think they have that needle all the way up in the needle bar shaft, but...oops! no, it's not, and sometimes they also forget that the flat side goes toward the back of the needle bar. Also, sometimes sewists (not necessarily YOU, Madalyn, but SOME sewists, forget to turn the handwheel toward themselves and keep that presser foot in the UP position when they thread the machine. What happens? Yep! The tension discs do not open all the way up for thread to locate the tension discs and creates a problem. Make sure you clean the shuttle, the feed dogs. No big deal. Relax, get the little brush. Much success!

How do i thread my needle with the singer handy stitch?

  1. Loosen needle screw & insert needle with shank's flat side facing front of machine. Push needle in all the way, then tighten screw to hold needle in place.
  2. Install a fully wound bobbin by loosening bobbin nut & placing bobbin on top. Re-attach bobbin nut & tighten. If standard thread spool will be used, then attach spool pin to bobbin shaft & place thread spool onto shaft. Attach white spool cap on end of thread spool, then tighten. Bobbin/spool should unwind facing forward toward needle.
  3. Bring end of thread through thread guides & over tension control. Pass end of thread through needle eye, from back to front, & pull it out about two inches.
  4. A spring pushes pressor foot onto fabric that is being sewn, so lift pressor foot & place fabric underneath.
  5. Turn large handwheel on side of machine (handwheel can be turned in either direction) to raise needle arm to its highest position.
  6. Holding the Handy Stitch in place with your right hand, press on power switch & begin sewing. Guide fabric (being sewn) with your left hand.
  7. To end this sewing session, turn off power. Turn handwheel to raise needle to its highest position. Carefully pull out about three inches of thread through needle & snip, then lift pressor foot to remove fabric. Turn fabric over & loop needle threader through last stitch. Place end of thread from underside through eye of needle threader, & pull to loop through. Pull to tighten and snip end of thread.

Sewing machine no movement

I know what the problem is. Its a cracked gear. When you have the top open look at the big fiber gear on top. It is common for these to crack and now it is stuck. Needs a Bernina service guy to replace it. There is one more smaller fiber gear near the handwheel inside that could be cracked also.

Why would my Singer 6235 not feed the fabic:

h! there,
fabric moves forward when machine run due to movement of feed dogs, feed dog has a teeth, when your foot presser goes down attached to fabrics the pressure hold the fabric between pressure foot and feed dogs that why when machine run feed dogs pushed fabric when recieved stitch.try to check adjustment of feed dogs it maybe set at rest or neutral.reset it to upward towards needle.check also bobbins thread if accumulation was build up under feed dogs.regard and have a nice day.

Kenmore Model (385.15108200) Fabric not moving

hi! there if your feed dog does not move the fabric forward or backward,if this is so try to run machine w/o the fabric check if feed dog move on cycle, the teeth should be moving upward and downward rotation pushing action on your fabric, the teeth should come out to the plate slot of feed dog.if not adjust upward, and adjust also the presser foot of needle.if your feed dog is not moving when machine running, thre is a mechanical disengage or loosen in shuttle assymble and feeder dog mechanism they link together ubder the machine,as the shuttle move on one stroke the feeder also move also with the needle.Chesk the adjustment and link mechanism.in addition to this try to clean feed dogs by brush chips thread and fabrics sometimes stored on mechanism of feed dogs and shuttle.
