Question about HP Compaq Presario SR2150NX PC Desktop

I forgot my Administrator Password

Until now I was the only user in my computer and I didn't need to use any password, but I remember that I did store one for the admin when I installed windows XP. My roommate asked me to use my computer and after he messed up one of my files I decided to add another user and to block the access to some of the folders. Everything went great and I created the User, changed the folders setting and the way you login to my computer. When I did restart I have 2 users, but I forgot the admin password and I can't login with my user only the new user I created. I can't change anything because the new user have limited access. I can't believe I did something so stupid, please help I am desperate. I have Compaq FS7600 and use Windows Vista Home basic and I have forgotten my administrative password

I have not received a solution to my problem and now you want me to sign up for expert assistance. If the general experts can't do it, but if I pay $14.99 the experts on the phone can fix it! What up with that - that seems pretty lame, just another way to extract money for nothing. Do I get the $9.99 credit to the premium program?

Are you sure there is a password? Try leaving the password blank and logging in. Let me know how this goes and if it doesn't work, I'll see what you can do

Locked password

Locked Password where? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows User Account (userid) Password? And which operating system?

If it's the Bios Password, then you will need to remove the CMOS Battery and let the computer sit for a couple of hours. Then put the battery back in and try rebooting. You'll have to go back into the BIOS or Setup to put the correct date and time in but the password should be gone from memory.

If it's the Hard Drive Password, you're kinda out of luck. Hard drives are locked 99% of the time when the computer is stolen. The original owner either locked it while he had possession of it or he could have locked it remotely when it was stolen to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The only way around it is to have the original put the password in, or Purchase a new hard drive to put in the computer, reload the operating system, reload the drivers and reload application programs.

If it's the Windows Password for User Account turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key until you see the SAFE MODE Option. Take the Safe Mode option to boot the computer. When it comes to the login screen it will show you the Administrator account and the Account for which you forgot or don't know the password. Log into the Administrator account (hopefully you didn't password protect it and forgot it). When windows desktop comes up click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the User Accounts window opens up click on the User Account for which you forgot the password then select Remove Password. Reboot the machine

For got password to login in how do i fix this

brendapace3,
What are you trying to login into? Your Windows computer or a website?

If you are trying to log into your computer and forgot the password.
Try starting in Safe Mode, by restarting the computer, and as soon as you see the Computers Manufacturers logo start pressing F8 on the keyboard. Select Safe Mode from the options (usually option 3). When it loads select the Administrator account (unless you set a password when you installed your operatinsg system, this should not have a password set. Leave the password field blank and log in. Once logged in, go into Control Panel, Select user accounts and remove or change the password for your user account. Save changes. Exit control panel and Restart the computer.

If you forgot the password for a website, most sites have a Forgot Password or Need assistance with Logging in link. That link is usually under the login boxes.

Hope this helps

Forgot Administrative password

I got the following from the windows help and support:

OPTION 1
Using a password reset disk is the best solution.
  1. If you have typed the wrong password, you'll get a message that says your user name or password is incorrect. When this message appears, click OK.
  2. Click Reset password, and then follow the instructions.
OPTION 2

If there is another administrator account on the computer, that administrator can change the password for the account you can't remember the password for. If you do this, however, you will lose access to any encrypted files, encrypted e‑mail messages, and passwords stored on this account. If you don't have encrypted files or stored passwords, then this option will work for you

OPTION 3

If you don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows. In this case, you will need to re-install Windows.
