My honeywell rth2310 programmable tstat seems to be stuck in cooling mode. even when i turn the switch in the heat position it is still trying to cool the house down only. it's brand new. did i get a bad stat from the box or am i doing something wrong. it's removed from the heater (which is only a 2 wire system) and it still does the same thing. even with switch in heat mode, it only throws power when the temp is set lower than the ambient ??? I live in alaska, and it's -20F right now. i need this working but all the stores have aleady closed for the day.

SOURCE: Cannot get original Tstat wiring to work on a furnace.

The symptoms you describe make no sense at all but just connect the wires by color, R = red etc. leave the jumper between Rh and Rc, red goes to Rh, Blue would go to C. C = Common. If at any time you short Red to Common, damage can be done, usually a blown fuse or blown transformer. So unplug the furnace while doing your connections. By the way, the new t-stat you bought uses batteries and the blue wire should not be used. Good luck and comment back if you need more info.

SOURCE: I bought a Honeywell programmable thermostat

If all you have is a 4 wire system, then your new thermostat will be hooked up just as it was ( r,w,y,g) and if there is no jumper on the new thermostat, then you shouldn't need one. The jumper on some thermostats are used for internal controls and is just a way that that certain thermostat works.

SOURCE: Have a ct87k. Got power at wall. Plug t-stat nothing.switches are both off for gas.

Those normally do not fail, they have a mercury switch in them. However there is a cravat they have to be mounted level and up side up. If that is the way it is mounted then just replace it.

I have a Honeywell VisionPRO TH8000 series thermostat which is about 2 years old and what I find is happening is when I arrive home and I find that that the thermostat has gone into revovery mode which...

Check your drain line for a float switch. It's possible it is tripping the tstat (as it should) if the drain is backing up. Another scenario, depending on the type of unit you have is that the air is being forced into the float switch therefore tripping the tstat. If you don't have batteries in it, try putting batteries in it for a week and see if the problem goes away. If so this would mean the tstat is losing power somehow. Either float switch or faulty wiring. Good Luck!!

The filter needs to be replaced on my RTH2310. Where is this filter and how do I replace it? Libby

No the tstat just has a reminder to replace you system stat. There should be a rest for it. And the filter should be in the air handler/Furnace

Display is stuck and won't respond to buttons

Your screen may be locked out. Read instruction on locked screen sometimes people lock it by mistake. All Honeywell tstats are different the way they lock. Push mode and and up and down buttons at the same time. You may have to go into it to change parameters. If this does not work bad Tstat.

Honeywell RTH2310 heating while it's supposed to be cooling

ok to start with if you have a heat pump and not ac over electric heat depending on type but most will be wired as
red to r jumped to rc y to yellow this turns on compressor g to green this turns on fan w to white or brown for electric heat strip or em heat o to orange reversing valve energised in cooling switches from heat to cool or orange to b energised in heating c blue for common
you will have to look at your indoor unit and out door unit to verify what collors the contractor used when they wired it up hope this helps

New rth2310 themostat does not blow cool air

I don't believe you're going to get the new one to work -- sounds like it doesn't have enough control wires to operate your HVAC system. If it is designed to operate a 7-wire system, the documentation should show how to hook the 4-wire tstat so it will work.
