Go to www.dell.com and look for the DRIVER DOWNLOAD (or similar name) and put in your service tag number (on the bottom of the computer). Once you do that, you should be able to find your Network Interface Card (NIC) and download it. Of course, you will need to do this on another computer and transfer the download to either a flash drive or CD writable disk. Once that is done, you can load it onto your laptop. There may be several NIC's to choose from but use the recommended one for your service tag number.
One drawback may be that NIC will not be supported on VISTA. If you have done all this, you may have to roll back to Windows XP. One problem with Dell Computers is that they don't take kindly to VISTA unless the computer was designed exclusively for VISTA. I have an E1705 that I tried to upgrade to VISTA and it was a disaster! I had to roll back to XP.

I need to find a ethernet driver or adaptor for a dell d600 laptop

Here is the website for Dell Driver downloads. Enter your service tag to determine which driver you need.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/

You might have a problem if it's not the original NIC. They are very easy to swap out so someone might have done that. There are at least two different NICs for the D600... one is Dell and the other is Intel. There may have been variations in the models as well.

Another suggestion is to go to eBay and look for: d600 driver disk
They usually cost less than $10 and it's easier than downloading all the drivers from Dell.

Lan connection has disappeared from network but wireless works

Have you run the Dell Diagnostics test? reboot the computer and hit the F12 key, scroll down to the diagnostic option and run the test, it will check hardware and memory etc.

Network Card is Not detectable

I'm going to make an assumption that you are using Windows XP or 2000.

You'll need to acquire the hardware driver Windows cannot automatically supply a compatible driver.

A link to the driver can be found here.

Internal Wireless card will not activate

Most likely you need to install the driver for the NIC card. Go to Device Manger under System Properties and see if the Wireless NIC is showing a driver error. If so right click, select Update Driver and navigate the the file on the CD. Once the driver is installed if should function normally.

Installing internal board dell d600 nic hardaware

The wireless card bay is located under a panel on the bottom of the machine. It will have two leads (wires) the plug onto it. There will be only one place that the card fits and you will know it when you see the two wires. After installing the card, then you will need the drivers in order for it to work properly, you can find the drivers at driverguide.com using the make and model of the card. Also, the two leads will only work properly if connected correctly. The card will work if connected wrong but the reception will be lousy. If you find that you're not getting a good signal after everything is installed and working, try switching the wires.

WIRELESS CARD FOR LAPTOP

Hi

Your did not provide any info on which card you have or wish to install; USB, PC Card, or internal mini PCI card.

For mini PCI cards, first you have to open up the D600 laptop and install the Hardware (ensure to connect the antenna cables) then power-up and install the software (drivers and utility).

For USB and PC Cards, follow the device manufacture's recommended steps. Generally, for USB devices, the software (drivers and utility) needs to installed first before the hardware is connected.

If you have successfully installed the hardware and software (driver/utility) you can scan, choose and connect to an available wireless access point or wireless ad-hoc setup. This can be done through the wireless manufacture's utility or from Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility. If you use the manafucature's utility, Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility will not work; will not scan or list available wireless network.

Clean XP Pro installed -- now NIC disappeared!

Well once you did a clean install over all of Dell drivers etc etc. You wiped out the restore artion that was on the computer. You have to go to Dells website and under the support tab look for the Nic card that you have inside the computer.

NIC

What error code was given when you tried to install the Broadcom 570x. What operating system? (WinXp, Win2000, Vista)? I would go to Dell's website and download the drivers shown there for the Latitude D600.
