I just now noticed this posting even though it is now November. I will post this in case you still have the dehumidifier & haven't solved the problem yet, or for those who may be searching for a solution later.

The 01 code & the blinking light indicates that the defrost sensor is probably shorted. Replace the sensor assembly with part #6877A30013L. It includes the humidity sensor & defrost thermistor & plugs onto the main circuit board for an easy repair. Sears lists it on their website for 9.99 + shipping.

Make sure the bucket is fully engaged. If so try removing the bucket and push down on the button sensor which is usually located near the left front of the dehumidifier when the bucket is off. If you push in on it and the light stays on the issue may be the button. If this is the case you can contact the manufacturer for a replacement button. Good luck and if you found this information helpful please rate it when you get a chance.

Our dehumidifier turns on for only a few seconds, then shuts off.

Wendy, it's probably because the humidity level on the unit is set higher than the humidity level in the house. Keep in mind, the humidity level you set the control to, is not the amount extracted from the air. It's the level you want it to maintain. The higher the percentage level, the more humidity stays in the house. The lower the percentage level, the more humidity it removes, until the lower humidity level is reached. Then the humidifier will automatically shut OFF and/or the unit shuts OFF, because the bucket is full. Once it's emptied and replaced, if the unit needs to continue to extract humidity, it will start running again.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

If the unit is titled forward at all, the "full bucket" "trip switch" will not trigger off as it should. Be sure the unit is on a flat, level surface, or leaning backward slightly--this also aids drainage through the drain tube, if that's your set-up.

The bucket full light blinks even though it is empty and there is "01" in the screen where the digital humidity level is indicated. Pushing the up or down arrow does not change the "01" number. Unit won't...

Take out the bucket and locate the bucket full switch inside the cabinet. Depress the switch and see if it comes on. If so, you may have to add a shim to the bucket or strap it in with a bungie cord as the bucket is jiggling and makes the unit think that it has been removed.

Unit will not run.

Error code 01 - unit has a sealed system leak; most warranties are 5 years.

01% humidity

When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

The compressor is located in the rear bottom on the right side looking at the machine. After you press the start button and the blower fan comes on, bend over near the back of the unit and listen for the "click".
