Question about Pioneer Televison & Video

4 Answers

I have a Pioneer PDP505PG about 4 years old. About a week ago it started flashing every 7 seconds until it went into standby mode. I turned it off and the next day it worked fine. Last night it did it again and now doesn't work. your ideas would be appreciated. I have heard that it may need to be re gassed or something like that? Cheers Mark Brebner

Mark,

good day
re-gassing may also be a fix since the TV won't somehow turn on or go off from standby, regassing/recharging is like fixing or reconstructing the plasma so that after 10-15 years of use, you will get a "like-new" display from the unit.

about the standby, if the unit realizes that it has an internal issue (specially with the plasma's going bad) it will not allow you to turn it on because forcing the plasma to work if it is worn out will cause more damage. much like a breaker, it avoids further damage to the whole circuit.

best move is to get it checked by pioneer or a local repair shop that fizes pioneer, also note that regassing or resharging will cost arouns $100 to $400

good luck

You need to try a hard reset of the television (unplug the set for a couple of hours and plug it back in). If that does not work, you most likely need a new power supply. the safe mode is preventing damage to the unit if the power supply is not working.
Let me know if you need help doing that yourself. You may want to try one of our nearby professionals.

My brother MFC-230C is unable to clean. I went to the maintenance chapter and followed the intructions but am still having problems. Please assist me.

There should be an "error number" flashed in your LCD. If "Unable to Clean, Error ##" appears, troubleshooting should be based on the error number.
But I think it's all about the "counter" of your Brother Printer. Try resetting it by turning your printer off and turning it on in "Maintenance Mode". To enter into maintenance mode, do either of the following;
1.) Press Menu, Mono Start and Up arrow the shortest time possible when turning the printer on. 2.) Press Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).
You'll know you're in Maintenance mode because all the four buttons in Photo, Copy, Fax & Scan will flash. when you're in Maintenance Mode, press 80 in your number keys, then press "Mono Start" (Black Start) several times until you reach to "Purge Counter" which is in the 25th option. To reset your counter, press 2, 7, 8, 3 in order and you should notice your purge counter back to zero.
Please "Stop" several times to return to main menu of maintenance mode. To exit maintenance mode, press 9 twice to return to standby mode. Power it on and try cleaning or printing a doc again.
Hope this helps...

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

Hi, I have a Panasonic W32D2DP its about 5 years old. It worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. It started cutting off and going to standby. It worked fine after for a few more hours, then would do it...

It's going to be cheaper to buy a new TV. Once you get this problem solved, another one will pop up. The parts for a TV that's 5 years old are not going to be cheap. Most TV repair shops stop carrying parts after 4 years, & the manufacturer stops making them after 7-10 years. With a semi-major purchase like a TV, it's best to purchase an extended warranty. ipmart. com offers a cheap repair manual. You'll be suprised how expensive repair shops can be when it involves "out-of-warranty" work.

Sony Bravia KDL 46", no picture, standby light blinks 4 times

Since the TV is still receiving power, the problem is going to be with the TV's mainboard.  After you unplugged the TV and plugged it back in, you said the power light went out again, so I assume the standby light wasn't flashing again?  The flashing standby light is indicating an error code so my suggestion is to contact Sony for service options regardless if there is a warranty or not because service is the only solution to this situation.  Don't forget to provide them the error code or 4 flashes repeating.

Flashing Standby Light (6 times every 2 second interval)

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs? Could it be all three of the bulbs? no as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok. please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt ihanks
