DST Error (1000-0146)

I did talk to someone at geek squad and they were saying and by switching some ports where the HD connects to the IDE to another IDE port and he was saying it is easy. Am I making sense by saying this. So is it possible to switch ports and reboot the system without having to purchase a new HD and a usb enclosure? error 1000-0146

It seems strange that this should be a hard drive failure - I have this situation for months and the hard drive seems to work just fine.

Is there something happening that I am unable to see? e.g. works slower etc?

This error is a hard drive failure, your only option is to replace it and reload your operating system. It's easy to replace, the hard drive is located on the side of the machine and is held by one screw. After you get it out, the rest is self explanitory. Here's a link that shows breakdown diagrams.

This doesn't sound like you are talking to yahoo, but to someone who has installed ransomware on your system. Find someone like Geek Squad and have them look at your computer.

Printer driver wont install. been to best buy 3 x

first off, What printer do you have? How are you connecting, USB, network (wired or wireless). I have been answering questions on this board for years and it still amazes me how people expect to get an answer without providing any relevant details on their problem. As for geek squad, flip a coin, you might get someone who knows what they ar talking about, you may wind up talking to the home theatre guy, who is not going to admit he knows nothing about printers. I have 15+ years as an HP and Lexmark certified technician and can help you if you give me some details.

Gateway PC screen blank, geek squad diagnosis motherboard issue

You could replace the motor board for less than $100 but I think the geek squad says the motor board is bad on every computer that doesn't start right up for them so I would have someone else look at it first. Or just get a new computer at walmart for like $300

No Non-Hd sound

In a nutshell, there is no solution to this problem. The new Insignia TVs have a compatibilty issue with certain HDMI connections. The best thing is to return the TV and purchase another brand. I bought the LG w/built-in DVD and everything works great.

DST Short Status Test (Error detected)

DST stands for Drive Self Test, it means your drive is failing.

I would get a new hard drive and USB enclosure, install new drive in laptop and install windows, then take the old drive and install it in the USB enclosure so you can connect to your laptop when windows is running and restore your files, assuming the drive is not completely dead.

thanks for rating
