Thanks for the contact. It is a desk top PC of 2005 vintage. I am hoping it uses the typical lithium batteries available such as the CR2032.

Will not come on. it plays when i connect it to my computer but other than that nothing

The internal battery is likely dead. You can try leaving it connected to your computer over night to charge, if it still won't, it will need a new lithium cell. (You may or may not have the tech knowledge to work with lithium batteries and soldering irons. If not, I would suggest selling it for parts on eBay and getting a new one. It's worth more now, than if it gets totally broken. Also Lithium Polymer batteries are dangerous.

How di I change the battery or batteries in the stanley 39-030 estimator? I tried removing the two screws on the lower back side but still can't get it to open.

The battery can be changed, if you do not fear a soldering iron. There is a third screw hidden under the sticker top center on the back of the device. You can peel the sticker up using a knife, then remove the screw. From there there are a few clips holding the casing together. Once you have it apart you will find the Lithium coin cell shrink wrapped in Yellow on the center of the motherboard. You can replace this with any lithium coin cell you can fit inside. The larger capacity, the longer the battery life. My original cell from 1987 is still going strong!
This is what caused me to open it. Just wondering what type of lithium cell they had used. :)

NEED TO REPLACE LITHIUM ION BATTERY ON GE MAC 1200,

I just replaced the mother board battery myself. You can buy the battery ( A panasonic 3v) from ebay for about 4$. To replace the mother board battery I did it without the soldering Iron, as I feared damaging the circuitry. THe new battery works fine. My solution requires you to have a mac 1200 that is not being picked up alot because I just put a new battery where the old one was. The old battery is soldered in place, I broke that with plyers.

Tomtom 4v00.910 won't turn on

The battery inside the tomtom is a lithium iron type. They generaly do not have any memory effect so you don't need to run them down as it serves no purpose. You can charge lithium iron whenever you want. Sometimes if a lithium iron battery drops below its absolutly flat voltage which is somewhere around 3.2 volts in a tomtom , it wont take a charge. This is because the charger has a protection circuit inside it that shuts it down if too much current is drawn. As such if the tomtom battery is really really flat then the charger will see it as a dead short and will shut itself off meaning that the battery wont charge at all. If you open up the tomtom , then using some wire off-cuts insert them into the batteries little plug holes. Connect a 9v battery to those 2 bits of wires " THE RIGHT WAY ROUND " for about 10 seconds . The battery will then be shocked upwards in voltage. This might then be enough for the charger to see the tomtom battery at over the 3.2 volts. Hopefully the charger will then charge it. Be carefull with is 9v as its actually over-voltage and charging lithium iron batteries can be a bit dodgy if you do it for too long. Actually , using a bench power supply is a much safer idea and you can also limit the current too but if youre not technical and dont have the right kit , then its worth trying the 9v battery thing as last resort. hope this helps.
