I got test drive unlimited for my pc 5 days ago. i instaled it and it should be working fine. instead,when i click onj the icon, a black screen apears for about a second then just goes away and nothing happens. What could be wrong?

Is the disk a dvd disk or and actual CD.
DVD's will not play on a CD drive and visa versa.
more so, problem might be your video settings are set wrong, or your video card and or PC processor does not support this game.
As always read the instructions on the game and it's support properties BEFORE you buy it.
Most software is not returnable once the shrinkwrap is broken.
