Want to know what type of video card you have?
A is the video cable on the main Motherboard of your PC?
Then you don't have one.
If however, the PCI slots vertically on you PC has the video cable on it, then yes... You do.
How to figure it out.
go to Start/all programs/ accessories/systemtools/ system info.
look for anything that have a video or display. click on that and you'll have your info.
another way. start/control settings/ display.
If you have a seperate card you'll see an Icon that will bring you to it.
Once you have this info google the cards brand and follow it to the site and download the latest drivers.

This isn't a solution as of yet but if you have updated everything and it runs fine for 14/17 minutes it could be that the card is overheating. I have run into this several times with gamers. The load on the card causes it to heat up more when playing games. Check and make sure all vents and the fan are clean for one. Over time they will clog and not cool your CPU and Video Card.
In other cases the video card is just not up to it. It will play for a time, overheat and then distort or stop working at all. Is that card adequate for the games you play?
One gaming laptop I worked on overheated and soon the graphics card would not work at all. Had to replace the motherboard.
First make sure it's not overheating, Second, check compatibility of your hardware to your game. Third, double check your drivers, completely uninstall then reinstall.
Hope this helps.
is it the first time that you will play linage 2? if yes, try to check if your video card is directx 8 compatible... make sure you have a geforce 6 series or higher video card to play the game. Also make sure that you have the latest video card drivers... update your video card installation. If you have no video card at all and you are running internal graphics chip. You may not be able to play the game. Get yourself at least a Geforce 6 series card. I sure hope this helps
The program will run but until you purchase account time for it you will not be able to play the game. It will just sit at the log on screen. You can either pay via credit card or purchase game time cards at a local game store.
I have built several gaming computers and if I had your problem, the first thing I would try is to add a stick of memory. Then I would get me a graphics card with some memory built on the board (256 meg). You motherboard should run a pci graphics card with no problem.
The 260 gtx is a nice card but ATI just came out with their new cards and the Radeon HD 4850 is faster for about $100 less than the 260GTX.
But WOW uses an older graphics engine and low poly count models with that cartoony look. WOW will run great on some fairly old hardware so if he is using that computer for WOW only and is running SLI then there is no reason to upgrade. He probably has the resolution maxed out and the detail settings maxed out. If he is playing on a 32" 720p widescreen TV then the resolution should be set to a maximum of 1280X768. The rest of the settings should be adjusted to maximize the experience to your liking.
Some LCD TVs to add lag because of the image processing that is hapenning behind the scenes, some TVs have a gaming mode that minimizes this lag. Also your internet connection could be the culprit causing your lag.
In the end you do not need an new video card to play WOW. If he wanted to play Crysis with high detail then that would be a different story.
