Lexmark C912 printer has a 980 sensor error. Can you assist? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Ray Elms

980 - Face-Up/Down Switching Error, standing in front of the printer check the left hand side (the area between the fuser and where the paper exits the printer) you may find something stuck or some paper there

Ray, a pal posted this on another forum, it will involve a firmware but you have to contact lexmark to get a passcode for the firmware. there are passcodes posted on the thread but it may not give you the right access, but you can try them out too

Great job. You pretty much did all the troubleshooting needed. If those troubleshooting steps did not help resolve the problem, the most likely cause of the error is that the sensor inside the fuser has gone bad. It's a fuser problem. I suggest you contact Lexmark technical support or your authorized service provider for further assistance.

994 service density sensor


The 994 Density Error indicates that the printer's system card has encountered an unrecoverable error. The 994 Density Error can be caused by the density sensor becoming dislodged from the sensor board. This normally requires a service call. However, for basic troubleshooting, try powering the printer off, wait ten seconds, and then power the printer back on. If still no go, if possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. In rare instances, a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can generate false error messages. If problem persists, I strongly recommend contacting your Authorized Service Provider or Lexmark Technical Support for assistance. I hope I can assist you more on this.

Lexmark C912 not reporting toner properly


print the status page make sure the revision level in the lower right corner is greater than 803.04 if its not go to lexmark to update the code if it is greater than. press the right arrow until reset toner Lvl appears in the display press select. use the right arrow to scroll through the colors to be reset. when you get tot the color you want to reset hit select it should give a brief message resseting toner then move to the next one. when finished you will need to power the machine down and back on again before the changes will take effect.

What the error means:

The 994 Density Error indicates that the printer's system card has encountered an unrecoverable error.

What to do:

This error normally requires a service call. However, on certain rare occasions, such as a power fluctuation or a stray static discharge in the vicinity of the printer, can cause a false 994 Density Error message to appear. In such cases, the error is only temporary and can be easily resolved without service. Follow the steps in the table to check.

Step Action
1 Power the printer off, wait ten seconds, and then power the printer back on.

Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly.

2 If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. In rare instances, a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can generate false error messages.

demension is in inches, you need to convert it to centermeter.

980 error code is internal printer error. This is beyond users capability.
turn off the printer and check all cable connections.
turn on the printer, you need to call lexmark service, if the error return.

these are internal error. beyond user capability or repair
turn off the printer and check all of the cable connections.
