Rca dvd home theatre system rtd258rv

I have a new system that is installed in my new motor home which has a HDMI interface to a Viewsonic LCD TV.It has a 5 disc changer. When I try to to load a dvd in the disc slot,it says BAD disc.I have tried 3 of the 5 slots with the same results. The dvd is good as I have played it at my home equiment.

Any idea what is wrong???

I have the same problem in my fifth wheel. The unit has already been replaced once through warranty, and now I am having it replaced again through my extended warranty. I have no idea what is wrong, but I do know it is a POS.

are you using discs with labels that you out on your self? I had a similar problem before and my label peeled off in the player causing it to get stuck., you might just have to take it apart, and get the label out.

this means you likeley have your cable box connected correctly, if you have it connected to a standard definition input (AV in or coaxial) make sure the that the dvd player is not in progressive mode.

This is an indication that the optics are either dirty or failing. Carefully open up the unit and clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. That should resolve the problem. If not, try playing a music CD. If the CD plays but a DVD does not, the optics are failing and need to be replaced.

SOURCE: We have a RTD259 RCA 5 disc home theatre system

Fist off, do you have Satelite TV or cable box? if so you need to run you audio wires from the audio out on those devices. If not from your TV should be audio out L&R to you audio input on your RTD259, now you may have a specific input for your TV, or you may not. If there is no specific inout for TV, there should be at least one AUX audio and video input open on your unit. Hope this helps, Cali

How do i connect my pc to my phillips home theatre system through an hdmi cable

The best way is to connect your laptop to a spare HDMI input on your TV first, then use the AUX OUT from your TV to the AUX IN1 of the Phillips Home theatre system using a standard RCA cable.
The only catch with this is that you will have stereo analog audio, NOT digital surround. However, by pressing the "SURROUND" button of your Phillips HTS remote you can switch the audio output to multi-channel surround, stereo or party mode.
What is the model number of the TV you are using?

You have several ways to do this. You can hdmi cables from the two units and plug them into your tv if it supports hdmi and run the audio out portion on the back of the tv and hook that into one of the audion inputs on the surround unit. Or you run audio directly out of the bluray using rca, digital coax, or digital optical cable. Turn the surround reciever to the corresponding input that you choose to use.
