What network intercace card would work with an old HP Omnibook 800 Ct? I'd like to put it on my lan.

I would recommend a PCMCIA Xircom ethernet card, probably very cheap on eBay. (But not a REALPORT model). A 3Com Etherlink PCMCIA will probably work as well. Make sure there are drivers for your OS. Make sure it comes with the "Dongle."

PCMCIA slot and DVD/CD

This is kind of a multi tier question answer that requires you do some diagnostic. First, is the PCMCIA slot and DVDrom on the same side of the computer? Also, do you always use the PCMCIA slot? First diagnostic is to try and boot off a XP cd or recovery cd you should have got w/ the computer to see if the DVDrom is in fact not functioning. Next, if you have the ability to try a different PCMCIA card in the slot that would be helpful.

There is a very good chance the PCMCIA slot damaged your board if you use a card all the time as some devices out there can get REALLY hot and do some internal damage.

Machine locks up

install the vendor specifig driver for the PCMCIA. because windows XP sp2 is also able to detect the device and when you push the device online it is detecting and there is some other device which has got same IRQ and that is conflict with this and stop. see any error that is generated in event viwer * run>type "eventvwr" and enter * see the application/system try to detect your error log and see what microsoft says about it. otherwise post the error report Thanks Arun
