I have loaded xp on my laptop,it's sound is not working properly.actually i don't know how to set the path of modem which is embedded with audio device in it. can you tell me how to set the path for modem while installing modem driver after uaa bus driver and connexant audio device driver.

You need to download the audio driver from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
You will need to visit the Compaq website. Click on the support link. Find your specific model # and then input the operating system you are using. A list of all available drivers should appear. Download and install the sound driver for your system. Reboot and you should be all set. Hope this helps.
Sounds like you need to re-load the device drivers for the display and modem. Dell maintains a very good library in their download secton for all the models that they made. Then use device manager to re-load the driver..
