  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2008

The light continually flashes on the charger but the camera won't charge or turn on - we've only charged this battery 3-4 x's and the camera is under a year old

same problem - continous flashing of (red) charging signal but no charging at all...checked connections, can download pictures to my computer, took battery in/out, but nothing changes...any solution already ?

  • ELOJR17 Sep 20, 2008

    same thing for me
the light next to charge keeps flashing orange
and when i plug the camera in, the green light in the left top corner of the camera flicks on then stays off, which means its not charging
the camera displays the pics when i click photo and it connects to my computer through the usb
but i cant take any pictures because it wont charge or turn on

I have the same problem . . . the charger light just flashes red and then when I put the battery in the camera, it doesn't turn on. What's the deal?

  • sarafamit Nov 12, 2008

Hi, I have the same problem. I bought this camera almost 16 moths back. All of a sudden battery is not charging up. Red light flashes while charging. I will really appreciate if someone let me know it is charger or battery which is faulty.

    Cheers,
    Amit

I have the same problem... what can you do?

  • mccomb Nov 22, 2008

New battery didn't solve the problem. Soon as the new battery ran down it also wouldn't charge.

Charger flashing while battery inside. I will try the trick with a PP3, thanks lots.

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2009

I couldn't get my battery to charge either so I held it up slightly at the other end to ensure battery was right into the charging pegs, held it for a minute and that was enough for it to charge on it's own. Must have been too flat!

  • annluers Apr 19, 2009

my original battery quit charging (red light kept blinking in charger) called the company, they said bad battery.  Bought a new one ($60), charged it the first time and was fine, went to use it the today and the battery was totally dead (had only taken about 30 pictures since recharging) and now it won't charge at all.  Could the camera be draining and ruining the batteries? I'm very frustrated because i like the camera.

Found this tip on another site. Connect a PP3 battery to the Exilim battery for 30 seconds. (+ to + and - to -) and then refit to the charging cradle and hey presto, it worked!!! My guess is that it is due to battery being totally flat, and the trickle charge from the charger, isn't enough to get it going. This could also explain why some new baterries have the same problem.

I also have this same problem. I bought a new battery and it worked so it must be a fault with the battery

The lithium battery won't charge

If the lithium battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Digital camera batteries are usually with an external battery charger.
The charger maybe faulty, the charge adapter will have a LED indicator to indicate that it is charging.

Digimax i5 problem charging battery

Hello,
■ Charging LED

Charging LED
Red LED is on = Being charged
Red LED is blinking = Charging error
Green LED is on = Charging is complete

● If the charge indicator blinks as red, it indicates a battery charging error.
- The battery is not properly inserted
- The terminals of battery are dirty or damaged
If the battery is inserted properly and the charge indicator continues to blink, contact the
nearest Samsung Camera Service Center.

If the charging LED doesn't turn to green could mean a signal that the battery is bad or can't charge 100% anymore = too old, needs a new battery. Hope this helps.

Will not turn on even with charged battery

If your friends battert worked in his camera but not in yours,That is what you said wasn't it? Then it is not a lack of power. But a camera prolem. The only likely fix is to replace it. But check the makers web site first.
